Disney Vacation Packages & Birnbaum's Book

I dunno when, but many years ago I read that if you booked a Disney Vacation Package you would get a complimentary copy of Birnbaum's book (upon arrival, at check-in, in your room, I dunno).

Is this still true? Does Disney still do this?

I remember that. I think it was with an older package. I don't think they do that now.

We got a copy of the book becuase we booked our packages through AAA. I have to be honest, though... it's not that great of a book. DW and I much prefer the Passporter and the Unofficial Guide. Both books cover things in more detail and have more in the way of reader rankings.

I agree, Birnbaum's is okay-nice photos. But if you want the info go with Passporter or the Unofficial guide.

I just officially booked with AAA today for the MYW package. I was looking through the books for sale on a shelf in the lobby. I almost bought the one for kids. When did you book your vacations, was it recently with MYW package? I'd love to get either book, but the kids' book had room for autographs and I think the little boy going with us for the 1st time would love it for a keepsake. Thanks. Brenda

I booked my first Disney vacation with AAA 4 years ago. Got the book when I made my final payment on the package. (If I knew then what I know now about the packages back then, I would not have done the package!) Turned out okay though because I flew to Disney on 9/11/01 (well attempted to fly, but made to turn around, of course) and AAA was super helpful in getting my trip rescheduled for later that week, but I digress....
