My dh and I were wondering who has this and if it is worth it. I think we got the point system down but is the $20,000 then $800 a year worth it if you can only go once a year?

What is the discount on meals and tickets?

I know yall out there know the answer to this!! help!

Post this on the DVC forums and you will get plenty of opinions. :thumbsup2

$20,000? Certainly you don't need to spend that much! Check out the DVC forums for more info!

Here's something to think about. We are from NJ and we go once per year. We became DVC members in 1998 and our home resort is BWV. We usually stay for at least one week. A studio at BWV is at least $300 per night, so if we stay at least one week that would mean $2,100 per week for every time we go. We have gone every year since we became DVC members. So we would have spent over $14,000 over that period of time just for the room. Instead we paid around $12,000 for our initial membership. Point values were in the $60's back then. The point is that it will pay for itself over time. Now that the point values are higher, your break even point will be longer than ours.

I don't know if you know this but DVC members receive $100 off of an annual pass. So we buy an annual pass every other year and make sure that the next trip is within 12 months. This year we will be buying passes and we are going in August. The following year we will be going in June.

It's definately worth it. Next time you go down, take the tour, it's not high pressure sales at all. If you feel that it's not for you, they won't mind at all.

I hope this helps.

I wish I did it 4 years ago when we first toured.Money wise it just didn't make sence then .But looking back on what we spent and could have had we would have been ahead of the game.

I say look at what you would pay say for 5 years out and compair that to cost of 5 years of DVC .Remember you can always sell on the resail market and take a small lost but it will sell.

No, if you look at the cost each year and you know you can do better than $300 a night, it might not look like a good deal. But you are paying for 40 plus years of vacations, building memories with your little ones :wizard: at awesome places to stay, then you can pass it on to them to enjoy when they grow up and have kids if you want to.

You also have to remember that the price of vacation goes up every year, but your points are locked in. :yay:
