Has anyone thought about buying a disney vacation club? Share the pros and cons.....

Come on over to the DVC boards from the links below (just select DVC Planning or DVC Mousellaneous in the "Forum Jump" dropdown at the very bottom of the page)! You will get plenty of answers over there!

Pros -
* You lock in the price of your accomodations at deluxe equivalent resorts.
* Makes multiple trips / year much more affordable.
* Eligible for AP discounts.
* Cash reservation discounts at DVC resorts (so if you're out of points you can still book a cash ressie at a DVC resort and get a discount).
* Best bang for your buck is at the DVC resorts at WDW but it's a very flexible timeshare program which does enable you to "trade out" to other destinations around the world and to DCL.
* Very flexible point system - allows you to go when & where you want - not locked into a certain week with a certain size unit at a certain resort. You can really stretch your points into multiple trips if you use them right.

Cons -
* Hummmm....gotta think about that one....
* OK, there ARE some annual dues...to cover maintenance & upkeep.

For us we were going 2-3 times a year and as we saw Value resorts inching up to over $120 during the peak seasons, we knew we had to find another alternative and for us DVC was it.

My family bought into DVC this year. It was a good plan for us because we always want to invite family and friends to come along, but I would cringe at the price for accommodations (and everything else, lol). Now, we stay in a 2 bedroom villa with a kitchen and washer and dryer, and I don't worry so much about the cost.

I have, but we aren't at a point right now to invest. But if/when we do, we'll probably go resale and buy small. Maybe 60 or so points to start. That would get us a Sun-Fri at a DVC studio once a year. Of course as soon as you buy that AP, once a year doesn't cut it anymore.
