Hey Everyone,

I'm interested in books that are great resources about planning a trip to Walt Disney World or Disneyland (i'm undecided). Could you please post a recommendation and quick review?

I know this question is quite broad. I've deliberately left it that way as to not block any books outside of the usual. Any books that offer advice for a cheap Disney trip, review the parks, reviews of Disney hotels, how to plan your time, food, etc. are all fine. I'm a big reader and will probably plow through more than one book, so keep them coming!

Thanks!

Josh

My favourite is the Passporter, it has the information and fill-it-in sections and pockets, so it can really be your Disney bible. The one I have is from 2008, but I still read through it (even when I don't have a trip planned!) because it's so comprehensive. :)

I also always enjoy the Birnbaum guides.

Have fun reading and planning!

The Passporter and The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World are the 2 books that we have used the most. The Passporter is great for helping you learn about WDW and helping you to plan every part of your trip. It will also help you keep track of your memories throughout your trip. I think the Unofficial Guide is best used for helping you plan your daily itenerary. It's a great tool to help you avoid long waits in line.

Don't forget about all the great websites as well. Of course you already found The Dis. I would also recomend Allears.net and easywdw.com.

There are other good books and websites that I'm sure others will mention.

I second the unofficial guide.. I feel like I am a pretty good "disney pro" but that book last year was such a great resource.. I used it for planning and used to for things that I didn't know about.. and its only like $10..

Actually, both allearsnet.com and allears.net re-direct to the same website. It's fool-proof! :thumbsup2

great... those suggestions look useful, thanks!

Anything that would have some "non-traditional" advice or cover topics not in these go-to guides?

Any other books people have found useful?

Also, I saw on amazon you can read some of the 1st chapters for free if you are a Kindle user, to preview what you may like!

We have used several, but the one I liked the best is the Unofficial Guide. The first one we had was for kids, and the second one was just the Unofficial Guide. I just found it easy to read and quite entertaining. We learned a lot too. It seems they also had info for outside the parks too.

I went to the library and borrowed lots of travel guides and must say after looking at all of them i like the unofficial guide the best with passporter second. i suggest you check out your library and see what you like

I love the Unofficial Guide -- I have about four of them, we get a new one every time we go. The information stays MOSTLY the same, but it's fun to have a "new" read through. There's always something to discover in there, it's so big.

Unofficial guide and Passporter. If you sign up for Passporter newsletter' you can get discounts to buy from them. Next edition comes out in December and I am looking forward to it.

Something outside of the usual is the book From Screen to Theme. It's a book about various movie/character references within the park.
