Probably too late for the cruise since your account would have to be open 120 days before the PIF date. But you could probably still have the account open long enough before you have to pay the WDW stay in full. Is that a room only or a package? Either way, I'd open the account today.

It's a package, but will be switched to room only- hopefully, if a 30% offer comes out. Would the vacation account make it difficult to switch if that happens?

Not really. It would be handled similarly to a payment on a credit card. The biggest issue is you can't transfer the deposit from the package to a room only reservation, or vice versa. It will be treated as a cancellation and rebooking. So you will have to have enough in your DVA to cover the new deposit if and when that offer comes out.

Yes, paying with the DVA is no different than paying with a Disney gift card other than the fact you have to call in the payment yourself.
Oh is the account like having a credit card? I usually have to pay through my TA to get my OBC though.

Ok but that would be the same either way. If the RO comes out I still have to book it and then cancel the other.

Can a VIP tour be paid with a DVA? Or would I not qualify for the cash back because it would be booked prior to the 120 days?

It would depend on your TA, but the big agencies a lot of DCL cruisers use (Dreams and Costco) have no problem with their clients using the DVA and calling in the payment themselves. They still give the same amount of OBC. I use a TA from Dreams and I just shoot her an email when I make a payment with the DVA so she can update her records.

Yes, it would be the same if you used the credit card. The difference I see is if the timing worked out right, the refund from canceling the package would hit your card in the same billing cycle as your new deposit on the room only so they would somewhat offset each other.

I've never booked a VIP tour before. Do you have to pay the entire amount when you book it or just a deposit? With the DVA it matters when the payment is made, not when the reservation was booked.

I booked my first cruise yesterday with DU. They gave me my reservation number and I called DCL directly to make my deposit payment with my DVA. The process took about 5 minutes. Sent an email to my TA after and she had already been notified by DCL. Extremely easy.

Nope, I just called and am able to use a DVA for the paid in full date. So, it's booked, and now I'm going to check out more about the vacation account.

Thanks!!!! I need every dollar saved possible to justify this stupid tour!!lol

Can anyone verify what can be paid with Disney Vacation Account for the cruise. I know funds can be transferred onto a gift card, which can then be used on the ship.

But, I am asking more about some of the up front costs- bus transportation, pre-paid gratuities, excursions, etc. Can those be paid with the Disney Vacation Account or is it only the base cost of the cruise?

I have heard that you can use the DVA to pay a deposit when booking onboard for the discount, but have not personnally done that.
I haven't used bus transportation so can't answer that one.
You can pay the balance of your cruise fair using the DVA
You can add money to your on board account to cover excursions/Palo/Remy/photos/bingo/spa/sports simulator/wine/beer/drink of the day/whatever other expenses you anticipate
I have sometime been successful in calling DCL to pre-pay the gratuities with my DVA, but the last time, the cast member said that I needed to have my TA add the gratuities to my reservation before I could pay for them. Instead of having to go back and have her modify the reservation, I just added the gratuiity amount to my on board account, since it would just be billed to it anyway.

In the unlikely event that any money is left in your account after the cruise is over, it will be refunded to your DVA.
