How long do you have to leave the money in the account to get the $20 bonus per $1,000?

Oh no! Seriously? I completely missed that part. So wait, once I've met my goal, then I have to wait 120 days before I can pay for my vacation or I'm not going to get the $20 per $1000 back?

No, you don't need to wait 120 days after meeting your goal. The account just has to be active for at least 120 days. I recently used the vacation account to pay for a cruise, and made sure that I opened the account at least 120 before PIF date. most of the funding of the account (other than the initial minimum to open the account) was done towards the end. No problem getting the bonus gift card

What is the Bonus Program?
You'll be eligible for a $20 Disney Gift Card for every $1000 you spend on qualified vacation purchases with your Disney Vacation Account prior to December 31, 2017 (date subject to extension), up to a total maximum of $500 in Disney Gift Card(s) per household. Your Disney Vacation Account must be active for a minimum of 120 days at the time of spending in order to receive this bonus. All accounts registered to the same address are considered part of the same household.

It's based on time from opening the account. Open an account with $10 on December 31 and add $990 on April 30, then pay on May 1 and get a $20 bonus gift card. -- Suzanne

Oh phew. It's definitely not a problem. I must have erased that from my memory after reading it since I knew it wouldn't apply. Thanks for clearing it up.

What if I open and deposit money into my DVA on Dec. 31, but my PIF is Feb. 1? Would the amt I paid on that PIF day be ineligible towards the bonus program? Or can I wait 'till May 1 to apply for the bonus gift card?

That is why i opened my account last october with $50- to make sure it is open enough days before i put most of the money in this spring.

Hi  If you opened the account on 12/31 and then funded it, then made a payment for PIF on 2/1 that still counts toward your $1000 increment. If you tried to request your $20 bonus gift card, you won't see the button or option to request it at that point as you haven't qualified yet. After your 120 days, the option to request the $20 (or more if applicable) will be there. So must be open for 120 days, however you can fund it and use it before then or wait, whatever you prefer but can't request the bonus cards until 120 days and then only for what you've earned.

Hope this helps,
Heather

whew!!! i re-read that sentence "Your Disney Vacation Account must be active for a minimum of 120 days at the time of spending in order to receive this bonus" over and over again, thinking i would not be eligible because my PIF date is before 120 days is up! but thank goodness it just means i can't request the bonus until after 120 days.

Hope this helps,

oh yes, totally, you have made my day, @IBelieveInTheMagic ! :) :) :)

btw do i need to set up a different goal/account for each cruise? or can i use the same account over and over again, even though the "goal date" will be set to the very first cruise?

Just wondering how long it took you to receive your bonus cards? I know it says 6-8 weeks and I am only at the 5 week mark with 3 months left before my trip but I am a little worrier over everything :scared:

Just want to clarify... if we paid say $3,000 for our vacation from the saving account on March 1 but the 120 days wouldn't be until April 1. Would we still be eligible for the $20 gift card per $1000 since the money was in the account and we used to pay for the vacation?

I can't seem to get multi quotes working right now so I'll respond individually - sorry

No - you don't need to open another account unless it's easier for you. You absolutely can use the same account over and over and you can even rename it later if you choose. It might help from a getting to $1000 goal easier to keep just one account going because if you started a second account you'd need to reach $1000 in there separately since it has it's own card/account number - at least that's how I understand it.

Heather :)

I want to say mine was about 3-4 weeks. It didn't feel like it was quick, but it didn't feel like it was TOO long either. I think they also use your trip date in consideration of this and perhaps send those with earlier dates sooner? Not sure but I'll definitely request mine ahead of time, just in case :)

Yes - you have to have it open for at least 120 days and then fund/use $1000 to earn the $20 bonus cards. You can definitely pay for things before your 120 days have been reached and again, you won't see the option to request your bonus card (when applicable) until your 120 days.

Does anyone know if the memorymaker is an 'eligible purchase' for the bonus program? My hotel balance is under 1000$, so if the memory maker counts I can get a bonus which will make it cheaper to get my tickets with undercover tourist. If not I will buy them through disney to get the gift cards. Thanks!

"Disney Gift Card or Disney Vacation Account" is one of the payment options during check-out, so yes it would be an eligible purchase.

I know you can use you DVA, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will count toward the bonus.
