I've never been one to use a Disney Vacation account. However, someone recently told me that for cruises (not sure if it's specific), if you start and account and then fund it with Disney Gift Cards that you can earn / be given more Gift Cards by Disney?

I know there are enticements all the time, but my searches thus far make me skeptical. Perhaps it was bad info, perhaps it was good info misstated, or perhaps the person is dead right and I was wrong to doubt them.

That's why I am here. Anyone familiar with such a setup?

Thanks,

The bonus should be featured prominently when you open the account. For every $1,000 you spend after the account has been open for 120 days, you get a $20 gift card.

Thanks. A few quick questions (looked at FAQ, but maybe I missed).

1. If I have a vacation already booked and deposit paid (long way out, December 2016)...can I make the remaining payment(s) with my DVA, or since it was pre-booked is it excluded?

2. Can I use a DVA on room-only vacations?

3. Does the $1,000 have to be at once, or is it cumulative (i.e.: I do one vacation for $650, then another for $350+, would I get the $20 bonus)?

I am paying for my August cruise using DVA. Any payments made after the account has been opened for 120 days qualify. I also had my deposit refunded and replaced it with funds from my DVA to maximize my bonus.

You can use the DVA to pay the outstanding balance. You will earn a $20 Disney GC for every $1K spent.

Yes. The same requirements apply for the bonus

It's cumulative. But I believe that the $1K must be spent by a deadline in order to earn it. I believe that the current deadline is Dec. 31, 2017.

1. Yes, as long as the account has been open for 120 days.
2. Yes, the DVA can be used for anything you pre-pay. I cannot be used for any charges in person. For a cruise, I'm told that you can use it to load to your onboard account, but that may not be true. You cannot use it to pay room charges at any resort.
3. Cumulative, but, again, only for payments made after the account has been open for 120 days.
