Hi everyone. Hope you all had a great Christmas! I was thinking of purchasing the Disney two-way radios for our upcoming trip to WDW. I was wondering if anyone has an experience with them and their thoughts (they look kinda big compared to other two-way radios).

Thanks in advance everyone!

We bought these on our Dec. trip - we have a set of Motorola Talkabouts already, but forgot them! After the kids got stuck for almost an hour on Splash Mountain - and we didn't know, we bought a set in the AKL gift shop - $60 for the pair - not bad for Disney World pricing!

The regular radios are shorter, but wider. The Disney ones are a little taller, but thinner - almost like a cell phone size. We kept them in our fanny packs with no trouble - you could also keep them in a pocket or clip them onto a belt. They worked great!

The only reason why they weren't under the tree was that they were 2 mile range. I picked up the talkabouts with 5 mile range.

If you're all in the same park, the two mile will be fine, but if you go to different parks (in our case, most likely MGM/Epcot), it'll be nice to still keep in contact.

Understand the Splash wait. The things that told me I needed the radios:
1. Space Mountain broke with us about to launch. We were on for 45 minutes, husband and younger son waited outside. At least people came out and told them what was going on inside!

2. I was in the single rider at Test Track for an hour, due to breakdowns and rain--forgot the cell phone.

Tested the talkabouts Christmas night. We're in a very hilly area and got about 3.5 mile range.
