Disney Trivia Experts ... Incredible Countdown Clock?

I have been scanning all of my dad's slides, and in the process I came across this photo that he took at Disneyland in 1984. I can't ask him what it was about since he passed away a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know what this Incredible Countdown Clock was for? It was right at the entrance gates. I've tried googling and searching, but no luck.

If there's a better forum for me to place this, could you also let me know? I couldn't find a forum for trivia, etc. Thanks!

I found it! Countdown to the 30th birthday.

Interesting. They used the same exact contraption for the 35th Anniversary.

It was actually counting guests. Each 30th guest got a prize. It also kept track of how many visitors had visited the park.

This was so cool! Guests received free stuff each day. I got free drinks, ice cream, and free trip to DL. If I remember correctly, the grand prize winner got lifetime pass to all Disney parks. I would have LOVED that prize!
