I am traveling to wdw in September and I am debating on spending the money for travel insurance. Can anyone tell me if it's worth buying? Also is Disney travel insurance the best or is there another one out there?:confused3

We've always purchased it and I've always wondered the same thing until this trip pending in just a few weeks.

When our trip was still eight weeks ago, I slipped on a wet floor and broke my arm and a rib. I was really worried I wouldn't be healed up enough for my vacation but everyone told me not to worry. They were right. My arm is still a little sore, but my rib is completely healed.

All good right? Sure, except that two weeks ago, I had to have emergency surgery --totally out of the blue and unexpected. :confused3 Again, I should be completely healed by the time we take off in 24 days, but let me tell you ... never have I been so glad that I have the vacation insurance!

It really took a huge weight off my mind each time, and even now! I will never even question paying for the insurance again, which through Disney cost me about $68 for this trip.

You never know what can happen! Take the insurance! :goodvibes

Another vote for taking trip insurance. My aunt and uncle and cousin were scheduled to go to Disney the first week of September 2 years ago. My grandmother passed away about 2 days before they left. With the trip insurance (that they took with BookIt.com) they were able to get refunded for everything. You never know what can happen so its definitely work the extra money!

My grandmother's 90 (in pretty good shape for her age but still ... 90!) and I'm going during hurricane season. So travel insurance is a must for me. I booked my trip through AAA and got their insurance which was very reasonable.

I always get trip insurance whenever I invest a lot of money in a trip (and WDW is a lot of money!). I usually by through InsureMyTrip dot com, you can compare lots of different providers with different options.

YES!! I learned the hard way. The one year I skipped it NYC had to have hurricane along with the east coast and got stuck in Disney for 7 more days . I learned the hard way. I was not complaining about being stuck in WDW there was worse places to be stick out

During the middle of hurricane season? I would.

I do have a question though. How much would you have invested in a trip before you buy insurance? We exchange through RCI, and this year, we have a week in a condo at Myrtle Beach during the height of hurricane season. We're driving, but my daughter is flying in from Louisiana. Would you invest in some sort of insurance?

I have never gotten travel insurance, not sure if that has been the wisest thing, have always figured I would just take the hit if something happened before we left.

That may be incomplete thinking.

We took the insurance for our trip as well. A week before our trip, I get a jury summons in the mail. I was praying hard that the judge would be kind. I had to speak with the judge in person and provide our flight and resort reservations. Luckily she approved. And to think, I almost declined the insurance....!!!

I never bothered with trip insurance in the past. But a couple years ago, my best friend and her hubby went to WDW and 2 days after they arrived her father-in-law died. Anything can happen and I figure spending a few dollars could potentially save me thousands.

After reading these notes, I think I should have added insurance. We are 122 days out now, can I call and add insurance? Anyone recall the cost? Fingers crossed for no Hurricanes this year.

Wise choice to get Trip Insurance. On our 1st trip, DD and DH got VERY SICK and we needed to leave early. I was able to get back 1/2 of my payment plus they paid the added cost of changing our flight, the walk in clinic payment and stroller rental fee not used.

The insurance cost depends on the # of people and ages. I think it is about $65 per adult. REMEMBER it is non-refunable, so if you cancel for a not "insurance" reason you lose the money. Have a great trip :)

The insurance cost for me and the DH and was 69.00 each ($139.00). Not bad if SOMETHING does happen!

Glad I found this thread... I'm there in September too. Ive purchased and have not purchased before. I just feel the need to buy it this year! Hope it's just my mind being over cautious. :thumbsup2.

My bliss, who travels all the time says insurance is a waste of money on trips, but he owns a multi-million dollar company. Ya, way more money than me! :lmao: guess a few grand can be absorbed.

I'm saying, yes, it's worth it, for nothing else but peace of mind!

I believe you can add insurance up until the 45d mark.

I've not done the research on this yet (the DIS usually answers my questions first!!), but it sounds like Disney charges between $60 and $100 per adult. Any idea how that compares with other companies like insuremytrip.com? And would this insurance extend to flights if you booked them with your package?
