Disney Trip- anything but magical

I just wanted to comment on this post. We were @ WDW from 4/25-5/1 and although we had a wonderful time, I would definitely agree that the parks were crowded! This was our first time going, and I was also under the impression that the crowds would be light. If the crowds we experienced were "light", I would not survive WDW during peak season! I can't imagine the parks more crowded than what they were! But we did our best. We utilized fast pass many times (which I loved) and the touring plans from the UG book, which worked great! We had tons of magical moments, including winning YOAMD Mickey Ears @ MK, and ds got to ride Dumbo with Chip, while Dale rode with another kid! Also, we were upgraded from All Star Movies, to Coronado Springs, due to ASM being over-booked. This is where the "crowds" worked to our advantage. LOL. That was a nice surprise.

We did experience non-magical moments, but I try not to dwell on them. I agree with you on the rude people, ESPECIALLY during parades! I could not believe how many adults would stand in front of children, to videotape or take pictures! One man completely blocked our view, by standing up to videotape as soon as the parade started! And that's because we were in that spot first! I tried to keep calm, but ended up tapping him on the shoulder to tell him to move over! Some people have NO manners! I also noticed the rude parents who would not tell their children to move out of the way when we were trying to take pictures. And people wonder why some kids behave so ridiculous?

I would love to return to WDW, but NOT in April. I would like to try another time of the year next time. Maybe February, September or November. I need to do more research to figure out which would be best...

Our first trip wasn't the greatest but it could always have been worst as well. We are going to try to go back next September when hopefully it is less crowded and maybe not as hot as well. Hopefully they will offer the free dining plan again this year as I think that this is the only way we will go back because of the value unless they come up with a better offer. I priced out an 11 night 10 day trip for two on their website and it comes out to be just over 1700 at a value resort without the dining plan. So this would be a great deal with the free dining plan compared to our last trip which was 8 days 8 nights for just over 2000.00 with the dining plan.

Hopefully this trip will go better than the last one especially since I have more time to plan this time around and know where things are located better as well.

Sorry about everything that happened. Me and my dh were also there during Easter Week and it was very crowded. On our first day at Epcot it was so crowded I was actually scared and all my planning went out the window. I subscribed to Tour Guide Mike and after the 1st day, I was ready to call him and ask for my $18 back. But when I got back to our room, I settled down an reread some of my notes.
We stayed at POR-sorry but our room was clean, quiet and it was a standard room that looked over a garden view-which surprised me, I thought we would be looking at a parking lot.
I think the one thing I learned on this trip was to be at the Parks when they opened. When I told my dh we were done by 11:30 a.m.and I saw pretty much everything we wanted, he was elated. Our afternoons were spent swimming, or getting drinks around the world at Epcot, we did the mono-rail drink a thon too. We had a lot of ADR's too, but we made our ressie when the supper time started and we had some really nice tables. At BOMA the Chef even came out and chatted with us.

I'm sorry about the people with pictures walking in front of you, a few times my husband grabbed my shirt and pulled me back because I almost walked into people's pictures. I did take pictures of people that asked me too. My dh is a smoker, so I waited around for him-and somehow people just spotted me out and asked, "will you take our picture".

I do agree with you, I will never ever go to WDW during Spring Break or near Easter Time. If I hadn't made my dh get up early and hit the parks, he probably would of said the exact same things you said. Our daughter marched with her h.s. band right before the Spectro Parade on the Sat. before Easter at the MK. We went back to Frontierland and watched the parade in front of The Hall of Presidents. We saw our dd and after that, we basically gave up our front row seats to everyone else that pushed their way to the front.

With the Dreams-I would see groups of people with Mickeyhats or the Laynards, usually very early in the morning. I do agree it is false advertising on tv. Winning a Dream is like the lottery-chances were pretty slim.

My husband's co. said "no summer vacations" due to a labor change. That left us Spring break to be with our princess: and our pirate: .

The drive down from OH was not bad. The parks were insane from what we were used to.

We resolved to never return from the departure experience. From WDW to the Florida Border we spent 8 hours in b-b traffic. We where moving SO SLOW that passengers were exiting the autos and walking to gas stations at the exits and walking to catch back to their cars!

We saw every stereotype poor driver and almost got to know the poor victims next to us. From Florida to the Ohio border it was a wagon train.

That Nov. my husband's co. eliminated his department the week before Thanksgiving - and that trip was the last vacation we had until 8/06!

Sorry you seemed to meet the worst of the worst at WDW!:sad1:
