We just had “the best cruise ever”, and it was a fabulous way to almost end our holiday. I am sure by now there are endless videos out there about the Treasure, so I just want to share some things that others might find useful to know. I am not sure if this should go under trip reports or not, so please move it if it should but my goal is to help people.
We sailed on 11th January Treasure cruise.
Check-in
Prior to your cruise check-in online, this is not the 5 minute task like checking into a resort. You have to supply a lot of information and photos. This is where you supply ESTA information. But once done it makes everything else very smooth (throughout cruise). At the end you are asked to print a port arrival form, this wasn’t possible for us as we were already touring (no printer), we just displayed the form which I had in email using my ipad and it was fine. So don’t stress if you don’t have a printout.
When you get to the port, there is check-in prior to security. Once you are through this, that’s ALL you need to do. You do NOT have to go to the desks in the terminal. So many people were queuing up for this, only to be told they were already checked in. I guess if you want to upgrade or make a change you could go to these desks.
You just need to wait for your boarding group to be called. As we came via Disney bus from a resort we were boarding group 4 and we were on board before 12. We left WL around 9:30am.
Deck 10
We had room 10616, this is center of the aft bump so has bigger balcony. I have included a photo showing how big the balcony is, it is much wider than a normal balcony that has just room for one chair. There would be room for a lounge type chair but there wasn’t one (we had lounges on the extended balcony on the fantasy).
One complaint about deck 10 is the overhang, at the centre of the bump it is not an issue. My other photo shows the impact of the overhang, but it wouldn’t just impact deck 10. Personally, we enjoyed the shade the overhang offered.
The beauty of aft and deck 10, is that it is super easy to get upstairs to deck 11 and food. It is one flight of stairs. This is great in the morning for coffee, lots went upstairs in pjs, before sunrise, coffee was available by 6am.
Deck 10 is the Nemo level, so the carpet in corridor is Nemo themed and the artwork in the rooms is Nemo, see photo. The other levels have different themes.
Many complain about noise on deck 10, but we did not have a problem at all on Treasure. You could hear kids running down the corridor, but this happens all levels. Occasionally you could hear someone run on deck 11 but this didn’t happen at night. There was NO furniture moving noise above our room in the morning, sometimes I was up there getting coffee and the staff are placing out the furniture, but not dragging it which is what makes the noise below.
Elevators
You will read a lot about the elevators, and lack of midship elevator. We did not have any problem with the two elevator banks. We have previously sailed fantasy with the three elevators, but we preferred Treasure style. The two banks basically split the ship into thirds. For us the location of the elevators made it much easier to get around the ship. It took a day to work out where they were, as they are very well integrated into the ship. There are 8 elevators in each bank, only some go to deck 12 and 13. It is important to note that for those that can use stairs there are lots of little hidden staircases midship between decks 3, 4,and 5 which are the main entertaining decks. This means you don’t need to over use the elevators for entertainment, leaving them free for those that need them, and while they are not as close as a midship elevator would be, they are not as far away as the aft and forward elevators are on Fantasy style ships.
App
You need the app, and for most parts it works well. Set up the app before you come on board - after you do online check in. One issue we discovered is that some chat messages simply did not get delivered. So if you are trying to communicate with kids don’t assume it’s because they are ignoring you, they may not get the messages.
Laundry
There is a huge laundry on deck 8, it is just off the forward elevator bank. There are lots of machines, each machine costs $3.50 to use. There is soap available for $1.25. My pet peeve, people who don’t collect their laundry and take up machines for longer than necessary.
Shows
The shows are great. For both Beauty and beast and also Moana there were afternoon matinees as well as two evening showings. On our cruise they cancelled the Moana matinee, this lead to huge queues and full theatres in the evening - they admit people 30 minutes before show, suggest you starting lining up 30 minutes before that if you want a front seat.
Tasting
The bulk of the tastings booked up before they were even available to silver castaway members. There were almost no availability on board, though a few for whisky and bourbon did show up. We did do a beer tasting - the bar man was great lots of knowledge about beer and the whole thing was very interesting, but I hate beer and sadly even the great beers in the tasting did not change my opinion. I recommend the beer tasting if you like beer as there is a lot of beer, see photo. Most of mine was thrown away.
Charm bracelet
There are lots of shopping talks and one of the hooks is a charm bracelet. You go to collect a charm each day from one of the shops. The catch is that on the three port days, the charms are only available onshore. We found this upsetting as we weren’t going ashore. But on the last night we went by the shop to get the last charm and they had some of the onshore charms available, so we were able to get most charms. Do be aware the bracelet is very tight, and really only fits a kids wrist.
17 yr old and vibe
This was our 4th cruise and on previous cruises our son enjoyed the kids club so much. We were very worried that now he was 17 he wouldn’t have such a good time. But wow, this was his best cruise. He made so many friends so quickly. The vibe people had lots of events and got the kids joining in and establishing friend groups from day 1. We hardly saw our son all cruise, he basically showed up for dinner and the rest of the time he was off having the time of his life. There were lots of kids in the range 16-17 that hung out all night. He was very sad when cruise ended and had to say goodbye. Vibe is right near the hero zone as well, where there are lots of fun sport things. Vibe is on deck 12, with very easy access from deck 11 aft right near the food. This meant our deck 10 cabin had very easy access via the aft stairs. It took our son all of 2 minutes to get to vibe (and food) without going outside.
Entertainment
The app provides you access to the navigator, which you use constantly if you like the onboard entertainment. Throughout the cruise the entertainment team are running lots of great games and trivia. the games suit all sorts of personalities and some are for adults and others for families. A note about bingo, it only runs on at sea days and they have it twice per day, and for the last session the prices almost double! We preferred how they used to do it on the fantasy pre-covid where they had it each day but only once.
Bars
You will hear a lot about the haunted mansion bar. But the thing to know is it is quite small and hard to get a seat, but persevere, we got one finally around day 6. They didn’t do any kind of booking, it was just luck. Don’t assume if you just look in, that you have seen it all, there are things happening in the bar that make sitting in there for around 30 minutes (enough time to drink a cocktail) interesting. Periscope Pub has TVs showing sport and serves a lot of different beers. Don’t worry about missing a big game it will be on one of the TVs. Scat cat seemed to be the wine bar with lots of musical entertainment. Skipper lounge (our favorite place) held lots of trivia and also served coffee and jungle juice! [note there are some drink machines on deck 11 that also give out POG juice for free in Marceline- not all of them do so check each machine if you like POG juice as much as I do.]
Dinner
We had a 1231231 dinner rotation. The 4th night was pirate night. The food was different, some nights were good, it depends on personal taste. Some nights I skipped the advertised cocktails, and just asked for pina colada - omg these were good (some of the best I have ever had, only in Hawaii at Aulani have I had better).
The crew
Were Fabulous! Every one of them worked so hard to make the cruise a brilliant experience. The cruise director was Carly. Our steward was Aris and our dining team were Suartana and Saville - all three made our time so special, so sad to say goodbye. The entertainment team was exceptional, I can’t remember all the names but Dancing Dean, Brandan, Ben, Maverick, Alex from SA, plus many more were brilliant
Debarkation
Chaotic. We went for breakfast (first breakfast 6:30am), and were probably done by 7:15. Then we just waited and waited to be called - all other tags were called by 7:45. We had yellow Donald tags. It got to 8:15 and we were beginning to worry we would miss our bus to the resort. We asked and they said if we were ready we could just go we didn’t need to wait. Our bags were ready to collect downstairs so don’t understand why they never called yellow, it was so frustrating. So don’t make that mistake, go if ready. Also you are told the resort buses will leave at 9am. We were the last people put on our bus as it was full, we left at 8:30am and were at our resort by 10am.
I hope this information helps someone,
