Disney transportation or drive our car

We are going to WDW again and we have always used disney's transportation. This year we will have our 4 year old grandson with us. Was wonder the pros and cons of driving our car to the parks instead of catching the bus. How close does the tram drop to your car? What are the lines like to get on the tram verses waiting for the bus when everyone is leaving the parks?

It probably varies based on what time of year you are going, but we personally prefer taking Disney transportation over driving our car. The lines for the trams can get long, although they do drop you off relatively close to your car.

We went back and forth on this a LOT for our last trip. No children here, but in the end we decided to rent a car and I, personally, will never go to the World without one again. We traveled in February, the Saturday after President's Day.

We were always able to get on the first tram that arrived, even leaving at park closing. I do think there is sometimes slightly more walking because I felt like the trams were further away than the buses (or maybe I just felt that way after a long day at the parks.)

For us, having the flexibility to just hop in the car and go vs. having to wait and wait and wait on a bus was completely worth it. We chose to take the Magical Express to Disney property and then picked up our rental from the Car Care Center on site. It was great to have the ME so that we didn't have to mess with our baggage and to have that first taste of Disney, because believe me, the Car Care Center is the exact opposite of Disney Magic.

In comparison to the two trips I had taken before relying solely on Disney transportation, we saved a significant amount of time waiting for buses to pick us up and buses to drop us off.

+1 for having your own car. We have tried it both ways and we had a much better time with the car. I wish I had figured that out before our first trip when DD was 4. I just remembering having to wake up an exhausted 4 year old at the stroller return location only to have to carry her out of the park and then hold her for 20 minutes while standing in a crowded line waiting for a bus and praying for a seat on the bus and then carry her through the resort! One night we were so fed up with the bus lines we grabbed a taxi (I think it was Epcot) and could have cried we were so happy to have a ride.

If I had it to do over again I would #1 bring my own stroller and #2 rent a car.

We always rent a car. Not only do I think it is faster (most of the time) you also have the option of going off property for snacks and drinks or medicine if needed.

We drive to Disney so we always have a car. I will never go back to the busses. I hate them. You're going to get both sides of the argument here. Those who love the busses and those who hate them.

I have always driven down and have not once got into my car after parking it at my resort. I like the idea of being in the Disney bubble and not having to worry about parking and traffic.

As my husband always say at Disney "I would rather stand on the bus, then drive one."

With little kids I would think it would be easier to have a car and drive to the parks.

We're in the 'we love drive' camp! In addition to the convenience of driving (vs waiting for the bus) - you can have handy things in the car- snacks, ponchos, spare shoes/ clothes etc.

Another vote for your car. Buses are not a fun place for me due to motion sickness. Even without that, I'd so much rather take a minute to get a child in and out of a car seat than have to deal with waiting for buses and crowded buses. Our kids are older now, but when we had a bunch of littles, buses were even more miserable.
