Still trying to find someone who experienced the Disney transportation in Alaska. Would like to know the logistics of how it worked for them. How early did you have to leave the ship ? How long did you have to wait on the bus ??

I'm from this part of the world... not Vancouver, but close. Take the SkyTrain, definitely! It's public transportation, inexpensive, and very easy.

I’ve used the DCL transportation twice from port of Vancouver to the airport. Very easy. Plenty of cast members directing you to the parked busses after you claim your luggage . Your luggage is put under the bus and you hop on. Never waited long for bus to leave for airport as it filled quickly.

If I recall correctly, we left the ship around 8:00 and waited on the bus for 10 minutes max before heading out, it was very quick. Our biggest delay was waiting in a parking lot at the airport for about 10-15 minutes waiting for space to open up for the bus to unload us.

Taxi, limo's and the subway/Skytrain are your main options from the cruise terminal. Uber/Lyft is coming to the city, but I've heard there may be cruise terminal restrictions for them.

IMO... when you exit the cruise terminal, look at the taxi line. If the taxi line is short (less than 10 minutes), I would take the taxi. If there are three ships docking... expect long waits for a taxi and the Skytrain is the best option.

If your cruise terminal is super busy, leave the taxi line and head up to the street and walk to the Waterfront station to look for the Canada Line station to the airport. As you pass the Pan Pacific and Waterfront hotel, look back to see if there is a taxi line and whether you can board there.

Skytrain to airport?

You no longer need to figure out the machines if you are paying by a credit card that is tap enabled. Tap at the turnstile and go.

Yes you can use a credit card. However...
  • how does the tap know you want a child vs adult fare?
  • if there is more than one of you (eg family).... how many times do you tap for a family?
