Mom is coming with us to WDW in November and we are booked at the Wilderness Lodge

Last night we were talking on the phone and she mentioned that she may need a scooter. She's 81 and gets tired later in the day or after extended time walking. I checked on-line for WDW rentals and other options like this forum. Thanks for the input.

We always use Disney transportation around the park, but never before with a scooter. Can all types of Disney transport take the scooters: buses & monorail (yes, I've seen them there), boats like the one from WL to MK (?), and ... drawing a blank on what other types of transportation is there

All Disney buses can hold two ecv and some can hold three and some four. All Disney monorails can take ecv te cm will put a ramp up to board and unload. The ferry and large boats can take ecv the smaller resort launches can't but their will be at least one boat that can. The friend ship boats in Epcot and one you take to Dhs from the Epcot resorts can take ecv and wheelchairs. With the boats due to sea level and if the boat has lot of people they my have you wait for another one safety is their top priority. The boat from down town Disney can all handle ecvs. I think that all for Disney transportation. I am sure sue will be around to mention any I missed and you might want to look at the FAQ section because that would have lots of info with pics that sue put together which is the best you ever find any where.

The only one I forgot is the parking trams are not ecv accessible.

All buses in Disney can take ECVs, between 2 to 4 on one bus. The monorail can also handle ECVs. Water transportation can be a problem. Some of the smaller boats are too small. Sometimes the water level is low enough that the large boats can't take ECVs because the ramp would have to be too steep. But the boat is never the only way to get where you're going.

The monorail is probably the easiest. A CM has to place a ramp for you so you can drive straight in. They will ask you where you are getting off, and notify the CMs at that stop. The CMs will place a ramp for you and you either drive off, or back off, but either way it's a straight shot.

Boats are simular to the monorail, in that they put down a ramp for you, but there is more room to manuver, so you can turn arount to come off forward.

Buses are a little more difficult as they require basically parallel parking. You wait at a specially marked place and the driver will load you first, because it's safer to get you on before the bus fills up. Typically you load at the back door. The bus lowers and tilts and a ramp lowers down. You drive straight on, then turn up the aisle and parallel park in the location the driver indicates. He will strap the ECV down, and normally you get off and sit in a seat. Sometimes if crowd levels are very high, they will ask you to remain on the ECV and give you a seat belt, but it is better to get off, as there is a small risk of tipping over.

If your mother has problems parking the ECV, you can do it for her, or you can put it in neutral gear (there's a lever on the back) and push it into position. The bus driver will offer advice, but is not allowed to park it for you.
