Disney transportation and stroller

I am a first time visitor to WDW, we will have a toddler with our own stroller--how will this work with Disney transportation? What are the methods of "Disney transportation"? I know of the monorail--what is it like, I assume there are trolleys or buses? How will we handle a stroller on all of these?

Most strollers can be rolled right onto the Monorail, Ferry, and Cruisers. Strollers will need to be folded for the small launch boats as well as the parking trams.

Strollers must also be folded prior to boarding any bus. This is not only Disney policy, but also the law. Please understand the driver cannot move the bus until all strollers are folded.

It's helpful if you familliarize yourself with how your stroller works prior to your trip. This way, if you need to fold it in a hurry, you'll be prepared. It's also helpful if you fold the stroller when you see the bus coming. Don't wait until you get to the door of the bus to start unloading and folding. This way, you'll be prepared, and you won't get glares from other people behind you.

Okay, here's another stroller question...

Realizing that you need to fold the stroller on the bus but then exactly where does it have to be placed? In our case, we'll be having a fairly large double stroller. It folds up nicely but it is still quite bulky. Do we place in a seat next to us? Obviously it cannot stay in an aisle. Staying at the Yacht Club so we'll be lucky enough (I think) to be one of the first stops.

There are two areas that it cannot go... On top of the wheelwells in our Low-Floor buses, or in a stairwell. All other areas are fair game, as long as the stroller remains in your control at all times.

When you're on the busses you should sit at the back. When the bus arrives, if the driver doesn't automatically open the rear door, just ask him/her to. They are very accomodating.

The back door is for Exit ONLY. After the last passenger exits, the rear door will close. If you attempt to board through the back door, you risk getting the door slammed on you, and potentially separating your party. (There are signs on the back door and in the stair wells that say Do Not Enter, Exit Only, and Stand Clear)

That being said, if you have a bulky stroller, you may request to board through the back door as long as the following conditions have been met:

-You must have reached the front of the line.
-The stroller MUST be folded prior to boarding.
-Only the person with the stroller may be allowed to use the back door. Everyone else must use the front door.


That being said, it should also be noted that on the Low-Floor buses, the front door is MUCH wider than the narrow rear-door. On these buses, there is no need to board through the rear door.

This may be a duh question but are the low-floor buses obvious? I have been to WDW on-property 2x and don't remember seeing 2 different types of buses but, then again, it has been 6 years.

We'll just be happy to get that stroller on and off the buses easy enough.

The low-floor buses are obviously different. They've got huge, bright orange LED destination signs, a wide front door, zero step entry, wide aisles, and a full low floor all the way to the back of the bus. We currently have 71 Nova LFS low floor buses. They've been slowly trickling in for the past 2.5 years. ('00, '01, and '02 models)

Wow, Tyler.....what a quick response! I'm sorry I will miss you as a driver! I guess it's nice to make a change every now and then. As I stated before, I hope you enjoy your new position. I'm sure you will be great! You certainly have helped many people on the Dis as far as transportation is concerned. Now we will have to watch for you on the resorts board!
