Hi!:goodvibes I was wondering if anyone could tell me where I can trade my Disney trading pins in Walt Disney World?:confused3

Any cast member will trade with you unless they have a green lanyard...they only trade with kids 12 and under...

What part of WV are you in? I live in Wyoming County. About an hour south of Beckley....

daleswife- I live Inwood. I don't really understand the green lanyard thing!

You can trade with anybody wearing a lanyard ... whether they be cast members or not. A green lanyard is for trading with children under 12 only. I highly recommend only trading with cast members though. Although there are plenty of non-cast member pin traders that will not take advantage of new pin traders, there are also some non-cast member pin traders that will take advantage of inexperienced pin traders.

You will find cast members wearing lanyards pretty much wherever you go on Disney property ... in the parks and in all the resorts. If they have on lanyards, then they trade pins. Do not hesitate to approach them. It's their job!

Also cast members have pins that are given to them to trade that you cannot purchase anywhere. They are cast lanyard and hidden mickey pins. For example, here is a link to the 2008 Walt Disney World hidden mickey pins. http://www.dizpins.com/pinventory/wdw_hm_2008.pdf

It's fun to try to collect a certain series of the hidden mickey pins.

Or sometimes a collector will only trade for pins that have something to do with pirates or maybe their favorite attractions or character.

Have fun!!!!

We are planning our first family trip to Disney World and I just heard about the Disney pin trading. My girls are 4 (turning 5 while we are there) and 8. I thought about buying some pins before we go to let them trade while we are there because I think they would LOVE that. Is this a bad idea since they haven't actually been to Disney before or is it okay?

We just got back a few weeks ago from our first WDW trip. I decided to buy some pins (cheap from mousepinsonline) because I had a feeling DS 9 would enjoy trading. Did he ever! We were always having to stop so he could talk to every CM and make trades. He ended up deciding to collect pirate pins and did very well. I would say go for it- get some cheap pins before you go in case your kids enjoy it. That way you don't have to spend lots of money at the park on pins.

By the way, Charleston WV here!

I think it would be a great idea. I think that they would really enjoy it, you know all the excitement and stuff. Since they're under 12 years they can even trade with people who have green lanyards!

Ok good that makes me feel better. I am so excited!! How many did you buy and did he wear them on a lanyard or how did he carry them around??

We use lanyards. You don'tneed much to start with, but I got them really cheap off ebay (compared to the amount you pay at Disney World or at the stores) so I got a set of 20 and a set of 100 for about about $195 all together! Which might sound like a lot of money to you but it really isn't. Considering they run around 7-8 dollars normally.

Ok cool that sounds good. I found some on ebay last night, but then I decided to ask someone my question first today before purchasing. Thanks so much. Any other good Dinsey pointers you can think of for me? Any special birthday stuff for my daughter who will be 5 or my husband?

Well, you could get a Happy Birthday banner and some balloons and bring her to disney character meal. That would be fun!:)

Anytime you see a CM with pins on, just go ask them to trade with you! I think there is a 2 pin trade limit though...between you and the CM at that time.

Just got back and single simple pins were $8.95 in the parks (seems like they were around 7.00 last trip). Online you can usually buy them in lots for under 3.00 each.

Thanks for all of the great information. I'm definately going to buy some before hand for my girls to trade.

CM's don't just have pins on their lanyards, we saw lots of CM's wearing light blue things from their fanny packs and they had pins on them that we traded with. Also, don't forget that you can go into the guest relations office when you first walk into the parks and they have BINDERS full of pins that you can look through and trade. We also got the big buttons taht said 1st trip or something like that, they also had a nice button at Epcot that had Mickey's face on it and a bunch of different flags around the edges, they probably have Happy Birthday buttons there too.

You can trade with any CM at the turnstiles, rides, with characters, and even the "cleaning ladies" as my DD says!

...some of the resorts and shops have pin trading books or pegboards. The resort books are usually pretty much like trading with a cast member, the ones in the shops are usually time-limited events that only happen at certain times of day. We've gotten some great, older, harder to find pins this way.
