I heard this yesterday, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Honestly, I don't think which Seal Team was responsible should have been announced. There are certain things that should be kept confidential.

Technically SEAL team 6 was dissolved and hasn't existed since the late 80's. I was a bit surprised to hear all this news of "SEAL Team 6" being responsible for the raid and kill as opposed to what they actually are, the Naval Special Warfare Development Group.

I'm going to wait until I hear from a copyright attorney before I decide how I feel about this. I think you can apply for a copyright (or trademark) for a specific use of a term, not only the term itself. For example, no one could start a computer company named Apple because Apple has a copyright or trademark on that name for that purpose but stores can still sell apples.

I have a feeling, though this is only speculation on my part, that they applied for a copyright on a movie or television series named Seal Team six much like I assume they did when they made Pearl Harbor.

Disney copyrights SEAL team six sounds good in a headline even if it is not really the whole truth.

According to several news sources, the Walt Disney Company has applied for several trademark requests for the term "Seal Team 6"

What could Disney be thinking??...what are they up to??? Anonymous sources have released the following audio clip, revealing just what Disney is up to.

Leaked audio clip from Disney

Now that's funny! :rotfl2:

i'm gonna guess it's more about a movies/ than merchandise which some links have suggested....

Well, considering there's already a book out with that title SEAL Team Six although with the number spelled out not in numeric form, it might be tricky to claim the copyright... The book, however, is a memoir of the writers' experiences, and he retired in 1995... :confused3

Then there's the Navy SEALS movie with Charlie Sheen and Dennis Haysbert... I loved the golfing scene when they "rescued" his towed car... :rotfl:

I thought it was kind of odd, myself.

Since politics are not discussed here, I'll leave it at that.

(Still strikes me as really strange, though....)
