My family and I want to visit Universal for 2 days. We will be staying at a Disney Resort. But we won't have our car. We were first thinking of renting a car. But now we are thinking its too expensive between resort and parking fines.

Is there a way to get from Disney to Universal? I know Dreams Unlimited Travel has transfer option. But I can't found any reviews or feedback on it...

It's important to know the number of people traveling and their ages, as that can change the answer.

We used Uber from MCO to Portifino for 2 nights and then to AOA for the Disney part of the trip. It was about $18 from Portifino to AOA.

This was consider...However we never used it before...
We hadn't used it before our trip this summer, but itsi not difficult. You just open the app, head toward your pick up spot, type in where you want to go, and they'll send a driver.

Where do you go to request and meet your Uber at MCO?

I've used the DU Mears offer, with good results. But in all reality, with Uber around now, that's the easiest way to go. Get the app, and go. It's very easy. Should be about $15 each way. I like to get dropped off (and picked up) at the Hard Rock Hotel vs the general drop off area. The drop off area can be a zoo, especially at night. Getting dropped at the HRH puts you closer to the parks, and it's a ton easier to leave at night!!

I have been hesitant to use Uber from MCO only because of how to find my car. But, my dd uses it all the time from MCO...says it's very easy.

Uber announced an enhancement to their app where they say the rider can turn their phone screen a solid color, and the driver is notified to look for someone holding up a phone with that color -- sort of a reverse of the Lyft Amp, which displays the color on the car's dash. I don't know whether it's active in the Orlando area yet; I haven't seen it personally.

We have used Uber, taxi, and Tony Hinds to get between Disney and Universal.

Uber is the cheapest.
Taxi is the easiest because you can typically walk outside the resort and just hop in a waiting one without having to schedule a time or wait for the car to arrive.
With Tony Hinds you know what you're getting - friendly, reliable, safe, good service.

So, IMO, just depends on whats most important. If you're interested in Tony Hinds, his service is often recommended on these boards and his web site can be found through a google search. We've found his pricing on par with or slightly cheaper than taxi fares.

I don't know if we have it in Miami yet either (haven't driven since the announcement), but it's going to be a very BIG improvement for pickups in crowded venues. It's going to be the Uber Beacon/Lyft Amp without that troublesome thinking part! The rider won't have to do anything (unlike with the Uber Beacon where they have to select a color).

The entire face of the app will AUTOMATICALLY turn a color and a prompt will appear to display the face of your phone to the approaching driver. That should make crowded venue pickups pretty much idiot-proof...until, as one of my friends says, we invent better idiots!

We do Uber/Lyft too.
You may find you'd rather be dropped at Hard Rock by the way, rather than Passenger Drop off at Universal. It's not a very convenient spot. (we learned the hard way)

Many resorts (most I dare say) you still have to wait for a Taxi to arrive. They aren't just sitting there. Maybe the Deluxe resorts. But for certain not all of them. So I think they are probably just about the same as the on demand car services, at the resorts. They are normally standing there waiting at the parks.

I have seen taxis (usually just 2 or 3) sitting in designated areas of the check-in parking lots at AoA, Pop, All Stars, and POFQ, even mid-afternoon. I assumed they would come to the front door when somehow signaled by Bell Services. Now, if you need a van, you would probably have to wait.

Like the PP, its always been my experience that when exiting my WDW resort (moderate usually), there are 2-3 taxis waiting to be signaled by the bellman for when a guest needs one. It's not a formal taxi stand, but that's what its akin to. Same you'd find at any other hotel. There is a formal taxi stand at City Walk if the OP wants one on demand for the way back to WDW.

That would be a great thing. I know that the one time we used Uber from UO to WDW, it was at park closing, and we went to the main area, at the bottom of the escalators! It was mass chaos trying to find a specific car! I imagine that MCO is probably similar! So anything to make the car stand out would be helpful.

It will be even better than Joel described. See my post #15 above.

Once they actually roll it out, I will try to post an actual photo or video of the new feature on the "Everything you need to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW" thread.
