We'll be staying at Pop in December (no car) and were thinking about doing a day at Sea World. What is the best and cost effective way to accomplish this. It may just be 2 adults or possibly 4 adults and 2 kids (3 & 7)

Thanks for the advice.

Ooooh - good question - wish I had the answer :rotfl: :rotfl: . My DBF and I will be there in November and that is something we may be interested in doing too!

see, what i don't like about that question is the best way is very rarely ever the cheapest way.. unless cheap = best.

the least expensive but most time restrictive option is the public bus system, the Lynx. the #50 route has Sea World as a stop on its route (just make sure the bus driver knows you want to go there). it's an inconvenience to get the #50 (either the TTC or the DTD West Side Depot), you're on the bus's schedule (see http://www.golynx.com ) and you'll have to cross the parking lot once you get there. however, it is more or less direct and will be $3 per person roundtrip

other alternatives include a cab (which will run you about $35-$50 round trip) or the Mears Shuttle which will take you for $16pp/rt.

Thanks for the information. I realize that RARELY cost effective and best are equal. Just trying to figure the best senario. How long of a ride is it?? If we have our two small children with us, this will definitely factor in. Would the cab ride fit 2 adults and 2 kids?? Would you set it up ahead of time and have them waiting for you to bring you back?

Sorry for all the questions, but trying to figure out if we can do it this trip, without a major hassle.:confused3

On a solo trip last fall, I took the Lynx bus from Magic Kingdom (TTC?) to Sea World. It was absolutely no big deal other than having to walk across a big parking lot. For more than a few people though, I'd suggest just taking a cab or renting a car for the day.

Yikes, three threads on this today!!! Sure are a lot of you heading to SW in the future!
Anyway....it's a very personal choice. I've taken the Lynx bus from the TTC to SW. It was really quite pleasant and easy. But you do have to make sure that you tell the driver you want to get off at SW. It's not a 'regular' stop, so they don't stop automatically!
You could have a towncar service take you, and then pick you up and return you to your resort. It cost us about $60 (plus tip) for 4 of us to go to Universal last fall via a towncar. Or you can use a cab. Should be a bit less than a towncar. I just like to know when the car is coming back for me...I tell them when to pick me up rather than worry about getting a cab at the end of my long day.

Is Sea World a regular pick up, or do we have to go somewhere to get the bus from there back to the T&TC?

Sorry, didn't quote that right!

it's just how real world buses work. in the real world, a bus doesn't stop at one of its stops unless (1) someone tells the bus to stop (by pulling the cord or pressing a strip) or (2) there's someone at the bus stop waiting to be picked up.

Thanks for the info, bradk, I know how real world busses work. What I don't know is, is Sea World a bus stop, or do you have to walk to a bus stop from there?

In order to return to Disney from Sea World on the Lynx bus just go back to where you got off the bus and walk across the street to the bus going the other way.The SW stop is a regular bus stop but by telling the bus driver he will let you know when you get there.

Could do the Bus, but with 4 Kids, 4 Adults, 1 Elderly Adult

Nah

Then we looked into doing the shuttle Bus from Pop to Sea World, thats 16 Per Person

Well times that by 8

Then we looked into Rental car. Then it was issues with someone dropping it offf, etc. and about 130 ish dollars

Then we looked into Rental Van, Threw Happy Limo
BINGO. 85 Dollars round trip, Not including Tip. But we will be picked up when we want to, and no stress

As someone had already told you, just leave the park, cross the parking lot, and then cross the street. Go left when you get across the street. Just a wee bit down the street you will see the Lynx bus stop sign...they're pretty hard to miss...blue with a white (if I remember correctly!) pawprint on it. The bus will see you there and stop for you. If I did it, anyone can do it!!

Thanks! Do you think it's a far walk with a 4 year old who's been walking all day?

Thank you for that. This may work well for us.
