You don't mention your exact dates, but your question gives me an opportunity to share some exciting news that Mickey (or was it Minnie?) officially shared with us yesterday. Here is an excerpt (it only affects you if your dates go beyond Jan. 25)...

"The reservation system used at WDW for booking dining, recreation and tours will be undergoing an "extreme makeover". This new reservation system will provide Guests opportunities to book multiple reservations during one booking session and Guests will also be able to make dining reservations online at disneyworld.com as early as December 2008.

During this system upgrade, some changes will be made to the current booking horizons. The normal 180 day booking window will be reduced starting July 31, 2008. Reservations for dining, recreation and tours will only be accepted through January 25, 2009 for a short amount of time. The good news is on October 24, 2008, the anticipated upgrade completion date, reservations will again be accepted for the normal 180 day window or April 21, 2009.

Reservations for Victoria & Albert's, Cinderella's Royal Table, and Chef Mickey's will not be impacted by these changes. These three venues will continue to observe normal booking windows."

Thanks again for your great questions. Please keep them coming!

Will this have any effect on the ADR'S already made prior to the dates of the new system starting the update and finishing time, and all the ADR'S being done in between? I have all my ADR'S for Oct. (did 180 days out) already done, should I keep calling during this time period to make sure during the transition that they are still there???

Thanks

:) New Dining Reservation Booking System :)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Walt Disney World® Resort will release a new reservation booking system for dining, recreation and tour reservations in late October 2008. The new reservation system will replace our current Dining Reservation System and will allow you to book multiple dining reservations for your Clients in one experience, while associating reservations to your Clients’ Walt Disney World Resort room reservations.

In the future, Travel Agents and Guests will be able to make dining reservations online at disneytravelagents.com and disneyworld.com with this new reservation booking system. The launch date for this enhancement will be announced at a later date.

As a result of the system upgrade, effective July 29 through late October 2008, Guests will be able to book dining reservations up to Jan. 25, 2009 arrivals. In late October, booking processes will return to normal, allowing Guests to book up to 180 days of arrival.

The system upgrade will not impact Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant, Cinderella’s Royal Table, and Chef Mickey’s Restaurant. Those three venues will continue to observe the normal booking processes throughout the system cutover.

Note: Any and all dates listed above are subject to change without notice.

I'll be visiting WDW in September and staying at The Grand Floridian. Hopefully it will be up before then.

I hope they really thought this out!! Obviously there are going to be a lot of CM's without jobs....oh wait, they forgot to tell the CM's that this was going to happen.....I wonder when they will break the news???

I think the online booking system will be great if done properly, I still just don't get why anyone would want to decide anything 180 days out ... I'm not sure what I want for lunch today, much less in 6 months :confused3

LOL to each his own I guess. I planned a trip over xmas and new years. I booked EVERYTHING 180 days out because of the time of the year. I used the park hours info to decide which parks we were visiting and when, they planned my ADR around that. Everything went really smooth. Of course if you're visiting in september, it'd be a different story since you can pretty much walk up to any restaurant and get in

This all SOUNDS well and good, but I have a feeling that when the system is down, has too much traffic, etc etc etc there will be problems aplenty.
We shall see----

While I fully agree that it's wonderful news for guests to be able to book ressies online, there are still those of us who are not the most computer-able. Does this mean that with all of the tech-savvy competition of the guests online, I may never have a chance to get into the castle again? :confused3
