Later this fall, Disney will be starting a new system that will allow booking of ADRs on line! At that time, you will once again able to book 180 days in advance! :cool1:

where's this info coming from? Could be wonderful (if it's done well...)

From disney directly! :thumbsup2 (in writing...not just a chatty CM!)

I think the online booking system will be great if done properly, I still just don't get why anyone would want to decide anything 180 days out ... I'm not sure what I want for lunch today, much less in 6 months :confused3

Finally!! I have been wanting this forever!! When they announced they were changing something I was hoping this is what it was!!

I read about this the other day here on the DIS. It is very exciting news.

As far as making ressies 180 days out, if you are into culinary arts or experiences, it is very easy to determine what restaurants you want to try. Heck, even those who are not very much into the "cooking world" can easily say that they've heard about a restaurant and would like to try it.

:woohoo: Great news!!!! :woohoo:

For our family, we tend to plan our trips around our favorite restaurants. It wouldn't be a trip for us if we don't eat at Mama Melrose's, and preferably the last night. :thumbsup2

YAY! :dance3:

I just wish they'd sick with 90 days, there are so many reasons to. We're big-time foodies and I think that's what makes us want to wait until at least three months before our vacation. Sure, we have our favorites, but still don't know what night we want to eat at certain places six months in advance. Heck, we don't even have our trip booked six months in advance!

I was really hoping that 365 day rumor would have panned out. Imagine how great it would be to make your ADR's a whole year in advance!!!

That's what I thought, especially since last time I went, I was able to make a reservation for the Liberty Tree a week before we left. But when I went to make a reservation at cinderella's castle like 100 days in advance of my trip this fall, it was all booked up! I guess everyone else just likes to plan really early.

Would be nice but they need to make sure their web site is up & running. Most of the times it is down

where is this "in writing"?

I don't believe they have the capabilities to handle all of this online.

It is on disneytravelagents......I believe it is also on the Disney Mom's Forum.

It SOUNDS like a good idea. I would love to just type all of my info in and choose my times BUT then I would have to worry if the site would be down, what if my connection is slower than the other guy's, etc. It would turn ADRs into a eBay-like sniping war. Maybe not for everyone, but...well look around these boards alone. Most people here DO plan 180 days out and call at 7am, etc. I just don't think it'll work.

They better have their servers ready for 150% capacity every single day of the year. True, only those of us who know about disboards and allearsnet are the diehards to call 180+10, but if even one morning @ 7:00 am their system is down or bounces you out and tells you to try again later, forcing crazed mothers and trip planners to call CMs, Disney will never hear the end of it. They need to make it akin to Opentable.com. They need to have every restaurant online, the hours, the times available, the number of tables (tops or covers), menus updated monthly, virtual tours of the restaurants' FOH areas, the ability to print off all your confirmation #s in a .pdf format, etc.

For further security reasons, only guests with reservation #s to stay at a Disney resort should be allowed to make these @ 180+10, and they should be made to put down a CC# with a 24-72 hour cancellation policy. This would discourage double-bookings (Opentable.com prevents you from making any a second rez within a two-hour radius of one already booked). These are things Disney should do. Having said that, I don't think it will be nearly this organized.
