Hi,

I was wondering if anybody heard that if you purchase WD tickets before the increase tomorrow, that Disney will only honor those until January. Actually my dh heard this but I disagree???

Anybody to confirm. I am trying to look up the article for it now.

Thanks

I never heard that.

Our trip is Christmas so it doesn't matter to me....but I thought they said as long as you don't use them they don't expire.

I saw something about this on MSN earlier today, but it was referring to Disneyland, not WDW.

Thanks for the replies. I haven't had a chance to look yet but that is probably what he was reading. Thanks again.

In fact that article only says that ticket prices are going to increase. nowhere does it say anything about experation dates:confused3

The article in question (not the one linked to above) had a paragraph all about WDW. Then it talked about DLR. And then there was a sentence about expiration after the DLR paragraph.

Not really the BEST way for them to communicate that it was about DLR, but that's some journalists for ya!

Here is the link my dh read and he swears they mean both parks are only going to honor old tickets until Jan...wish I knew for sure so I can order they tonight.

Please your thoughts...

If you look at the above link. UNderneath the title it says "Fla., Calif. resorts will honor admission tickets sold at old price until Jan. 3" No where does it say anything about WDW.

I purchased our tickets tonight for next year. I even told the cast member this and they thought it was a great way to plan ahead and save money. I guess I would think if they were only good till 1/3/11, he would have said something to the effect.

Hard to tell :confused3

Disneyland website, tickets page:

"Valid now through January 3, 2011"

Going to Disneyworld website.

Ha ha, guess they are busy!

Welcome to the Virtual Waiting Room!

The event you have requested is experiencing very high demand. As a result, all requests for seats cannot be served simultaneously. Please be patient, and your browser will be refreshed in

***button-bar with a countdown***

When we refresh your browser, we will determine your status in the waiting room and if appropriate give you an opportunity to request seats.

During high demand periods such as now, the ticketing system must fulfill requests from multiple sales channels (e.g., boxoffice, call centers, outlets, IVR, Kiosks) as well as the Internet. This spike in traffic means that all consumers must be patient and wait for their opportunity to purchase tickets.

Thank you!

I ignored their request to wait, refreshed anyway, and got in. Picked a ticket, went to its terms and conditions.

NOTHING about a ticket's expiration date.

The journalist didn't understand and was hedging his bets.

It's well known on Disneyland forums that their tickets expire. If you use a ticket post-expiration (without using it at all of course) you'll get credit for what you paid while buying a new ticket.

WDW tickets do NOT expire.

The journalist just didn't understand. And neither did the editor; I've heard that editors are the ones that make the headlines...

From the Disney Parks blog where this was all released to begin with.

Question: Hi Thomas,

I know you keep saying “tickets purchased at the old price will still be honored,” but what has me concerned is a (faulty?) statement in the msnbc article: “Tickets bought through Wednesday at the old price will be honored through Jan. 3.” We just purchased tickets earlier this week and are planning a trip to WDW Jan. 3-8, 2011. Please quiet my nervous heart by telling me msnbc is wrong! :) Thanks!

Answer: Hi Steve, ....However, Disneyland Resort tickets have an expiration date which is printed on the back of the ticket.

(the part I ....ed out was a confusing response based on the questioner's fear that his tickets would be raised in price between now and then)

If you look at the above link. UNderneath the title it says "Fla., Calif. resorts will honor admission tickets sold at old price until Jan. 3" No where does it say anything about WDW.

I looked at the above link and it says "Fla. resorts", wouldn't that be WDW? I bought my tix tonight for DL and it clearly says on there they expire 1-3-11. Does it say the same when you go to WDW online to buy tix?

In answer to my own question, I just looked online at WDW, it is not the same as the ticket purchase as DL. Dl clearly states they expire 1-3-11, no where did I see that on the WDW site. I'm thinking it might be an error with the article when they stated "Fla. resorts". I think the prices are going up at both parks, but only DL expires if you buy them now.

It is just an error in the article. WDW MYW tickets will not expire until 14 days after first use, unless you add the no-expiration option. Unused tickets (with the exception of some special tickets) are valid for admission forever.

MSNBC is owned by the same people who own Universal. Why should they worry about accuracy on "bad news" related to Disney Parks?
