Disney Tickets as a Gift

We are doing a family trip this March.

As a Christmas gift I want to get some family members a 1 Day MYW Disney ticket.

Where is the best place that I can get these tickets?

I looked at Undercover Tourist and they don't have the 1 day option.

Should I just order off the Disney website?
Disney doesn't sell 1-day tickets to the discounters for less than they charge at the gate. So, in turn, the discounters cannot offer 1-day tickets for less than what Disney charges.

The only discounted 1-day tickets that I know of are "special" tickets that cannot be upgraded. Even so, you have to fit a certain demographic in order to obtain them.

You're better off ordering directly from Disney.

Maybe just buy them disney gift cards??? the more days you stay the cheaper per day the ticket is. unless they are truly only going to WDW for one day, they are better off purchasing a multi day ticket.

As stated above, Disney does not wholesale out any one or two day tickets. The authorized resellers, if they sell one or two day tickets, charge a premium above Gate to cover their costs.

The lowest price you will pay for legitimate tickets which can be upgraded is directly from Disney. But then there is a fee for mailing them to you.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, especially Post #2 and 18-A, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

The Florida Childrens Hospital sells them. But you need to call. Their website has the phone number. And the money gies to the hispital for evry ticket they sell.

The "problem" with the Florida Hospital tickets is they are one day complimentary tickets and cannot be upgraded or modified in any way. And if the trip includes four or more Park days you lose money.

If I buy the 1 Day MYW ticket as a gift then they can upgrade the ticket once they get to the park, correct?

From what I understand they have 14 days to upgrade the ticket from the time they first use the ticket.

We can spend the $90 bucks on the 1 day ticket then they can add as man days as they want to it. Each additional day they add is cheaper and cheaper from what I understand.

I have read the ticket thread, but have a quick question to clarify something.

If they had a 1 day ticket and decided they wanted to go to parks for 6 days, how do I calculate how much that will cost:

Base Ticket Price: $94.79

6 Day MYW Ticket: $ 280.65

Do they pay $280.65-$94.79 = $185.86 --- to upgrade the 1 day MYW ticket into a 6 day MYW ticket?

Yes. Your numbers are correct. One thing to be aware of is that a one day ticket may only be upgraded on the day of use. So the best bet is to have the people go into the Park and then immediately go over to Guest Relations (in the Park) to do the upgrades.

I thought you had 14 days from the time of first use to upgrade.

Or does that work with all but the 1 day ticket?

If you have a ticket with your printed on it, specifically the KTTW or Florida Resident 3 or 4 day tickets you have 14 days from date of first use.

All other tickets (except any level of annual pass) you have the earlier of 14 days from date of first use or the close of business on the day you have used the last admission entitlement. This rule has been in effect for over a year.

Will they be booking a package deal? If so, purchasing tickets will be a part of the package (except under very specific circumstances) and buying a 1 day ticket will not have much benefit.

We won't be booking a package deal. We are staying in a house off resort.

So if they have a 1 day ticket, they can upgrade the ticket at any time before the park closes that day.

Sounds good. thanks

I would opt for getting them Disney gift cards.

I had a thread going about a family that paid $500 for just a few hours in the park.

Someone else posted on that thread that a family bought one day tickets for one park, wanted to hop, and bought a whole new set of one day tickets at the other park. :scared1:

Unless your gift recipients fully understand that they need to upgrade the day of using their tickets, you may find you spent $100 each for just one day in the parks.

It's sounds to me like the family is the OP's immediate family and she'll be on the trip with them. It's not grandma, an uncle or whoever giving 1 day tix to family members.

The tickets are for my mom, dad, brother, and his wife

They will be informed that they have to upgrade their ticket on the day they use it. Shouldn't be a big deal.

I agree with buying them Disney gift cards. You just don't know if they end up with a package. Things change.

What I did for my nieces 16 bday last month and I gifted her a ticket is I just wrote in the card 1 day ticket. When we go on vacation I will pay for her ticket. This way if something changes I have flexibility. She was happy.

Well then, I would not buy tickets. As others have mentioned they might get a package *on site hotel, MYW tix and maybe a dining plan ~ free dining is nice*
A gift card is the better way to go, they can use it to pay off part of their package *multiple gift cards are no problem* or use it to pay for their tickets *in combination with another form of payment ~ credit/debit card.

My parents are renting a house in Orlando for the month of March.

They will be staying there for a month.

My family and my brothers family will be visiting for part of the month. We are going to do 2 weeks and I think they can only go for 1 week.

None of us will be getting any sort of package. Our accommodations are off site and we will be at Disney parks maybe 50% of the time and 50% of the time we will be at the house, pool, etc.
