DD15 Orthopedic told us Disney is suicide for the knee. She has been in knee brace all summer with crutches. Making progress only 2 1/2 weeks into physical therapy but walking around the block is about it for her and with the crutches her arms are tired.

We are at Disney 17 days and I know I can't count on resort wheelchairs and the rental is absurd for that many days. So I was thinking of buying a wheelchair for $129.00. Any ideas or brand or best style.

It will be good from the resort to the parks. She will be able to walk around general areas until she gets tired. We are going to do her physical therapy exercises in resort health clubs and pool, to keep on track for recovery.

We thought of cancellling but hoping a wheelchair will be a big help.

you could rent a wheelchair from an outside company like walker or i think apple scooters and they will bring it to your resort and pick it up for free. I checked walker and it be 30 for the first day and 6 every day after so it come around 126 before tax if they charge tax.

here their web site plus they have a number to call for a multi-day discount

One problem with buying a chair it most likely have solid tires the rentals in Disney have air filled tires it makes a big difference Animal Kingdom in particular has very rough surfaces. I never rented from an off sight company so I don't know if they have air filled tires

The chairs from the offsite companies are in much better shape than the ones from WDW. Also, you can get one that is sized right for your daughter. I would ask at PT for the size they recommend. Also, sometimes, the PT will know of chairs that are available for loan for a short period of time.
