Are they tradeable in the parks? We are headed to Disney in a few weeks, and my nieces and nephew are into pin trading. They have lanyards full, but they don't want to trade any of them. I noticed that they sell pins at the Disney Store, and thought about getting some of those, but I wasn't sure if they would be able to trade them in the parks. Will they be able to trade them, or will the CMs look at them like they are nuts? I don't want to try and do something that is not right either. Thanks for your help!:)

Cast Members will trade them because they are supposed to trade any Disney pin that a guest has, or so that was the case last year. I doubt if you will find an actual trader who will trade for them though.

You might try getting a "lot" of real Disney tradeable pins on ebay instead. You can find them for pretty cheap and then you don't have to worry about it.

Have fun!

I know the younger 2 will only trade with CMs, so they should be ok with some Disney Store pins. I though about ordering some on-line, but we leave in less than 3 weeks, and I'm worried we wouldn't get the pins in time. This was a spur of the moment trip for us, so I am scrambling trying to get a few things together.

Hi and welcome to pin trading !!
Disney store pins are acceptable for trading as long as they meet the rules.
The rules and much much more information can be found here.

Disney Pin Trading Etiquette
•Have Fun! Disney Pin Trading can be a great way to interact withand meet Cast Members and other Guests.
•The main criteria to judge whether a pin is tradable or not is that it must be a metal pin that represents a Disney Event, Location, Character or Icon. Some pins from our Operating Participants are also tradable, but must represent the Operating Participant in a way that has aspecific Disneyland®Resort or Walt Disney World®Resort affiliation.
•Pins should in good, undamaged condition.
•Trade one pin at a time, hand to hand, with the backs attached.
•Guests may trade a maximum of two pins with each Cast Member.
•Guests may trade only one pin of the same style with a Cast Member.
•When trading with Cast Members, Guests should offer a pin that is not already displayed on the Cast Member's lanyard.
•Please refrain from touching another person's pins or lanyard. If you need a closer look, ask the person wearing the lanyard if they can bring it into clearer view for you.
•Disney name pins may not be traded with Cast Members.
•Monies or gifts may not be exchanged or used in trade for a pin.
•In addition to the 12 pins on Cast lanyards, some Cast Members may wear a "Showcase" pin. These "Showcase" pins are for demonstrations to our Guests and are not available for trade.

Beware of buying from ebay, there are good pins on there and there are lots and lots of very bad pins on there. I am not saying don't buy from ebay, but do be very careful.

I would suggest going to www.disneyshopping.com , and then follow link to Home & Collectables. You will find pins, lanyards, and bags for sale in here, sometimes at a good deal and sometimes not. You can also get everything you need while you are there, they sell starter box sets with like 7 pins in them for around $5.00 per pin. There is also a huge selection of lanyards to choose from there.

Have Fun Trading!!!
