Disney Store Pin Adventure November 17th!

Well Matthew and I decided to show up an extra 30 minutes early today and we were still not first in line... long gone are the days that we were the only ones waiting when the store opened!

The DS CM's had dragged a mall bench over to the front of the store for us to sit on.. I thought that was pretty cool of them! When people arrived they came out and took their names and their "order" of how many sets they wanted. They had 11 full sets this week.

By the time the store opened they had all of our orders pulled and at the counter. One of the CM's led up through the store in a nice orderly line (I tried to get everyone to Conga.. sheesh people are cranky in the morning! ) and they called our names out at the counter and we went up and paid for our pins.

It was very smooth and everyone seemed happy. The majority of the people got a full set except maybe those that showed up 5 minutes before opening (and they should know better!)

Way to go CM's at Chesterfield Towne Center Disney Store.. you did a great job this morning!

I arrived at 7:30 (store opening at 10 still). That's as early the mall will open their doors. I was still #4 in line.
I was told just last night, by the CM that worked this morning, that they had a full shipment.
Oopppssss.
Some were very surprised, not too far back in line, to find the Chip and Dale's gone.
I pin traded before opening, during, and after. And I got all I needed for this week.
Worked out well for me. BUT if anyone has an extra Chip N Dale, LMK. I told one I would see what I could do for her.

One interesting thing -- the same woman who needs Chip N Dale also was not able to buy 2 pins last week. She called several TDS trying to find what she needed. One of the stores she called was Las Vegas, Ceasar's Palace. They told her they didn't have any of what she needed.
Just so happens the woman two in front of her was in that L.V. store at 11:15 (their time) last Saturday. She said they had what the other woman needed, plus LOTS more.
The woman who was in Las Vegas said she could kick herself. She didn't know people were needing Titan, Shaggy DA, etc. She said they had plenty.

We got to the mall around 9:15 AM and we were second in line. By the time the store opened, there were 15 people waiting patiently. We made our way back to the counter and found that this Disney Store once again had a full shipment (as they have every week so far). Everyone in line was able to buy a complete set and my kids were able to get the individual pins they wanted. This store also got the Mickey behind a star patriotic pin, the first of that set that they have received. I stood by the display where the patriotic pins were and told everyone what others they could expect to see. It was pretty fun. I only regret that I did not bring my pin bag as I had 2 people we had met last Tueday during pin trading that wanted to trade pins. Funny thing is the crowd at the Disney Store only want to trade 100 Years of Dreams pins. They are not interested in any other pin. We have been trading park pins to the Cast Member lanyards thinking that people would want these but they are still on the lanyards after 3 weeks while the Disney Store pins have come and gone. I had even put a Zorro LE pin on there to see how long it would last. Maybe this week I will trade it back off for a Disney Store pin.

We - guests - self assign numbers as we get to the store. We up over 20 when the store opened this morning. The last couple of guests were only able to get this week's dwarf - everything else was sold out. We are still relatively orderly & still play nice. Once you have your number, you are free to go to the food court, go to the bathroom, visit the new bookstore that opened this a.m., trade pins, whatever. We don't actually line up until just before the store opens at 10 a.m. While we wait we drag over a few more benches. The security guards no longer give us grief about moving the benches as they have learned we will out them back when the store opens.

Last weekend, our first back from the cruise, I dropped dopeymom off at the local mall -- this was at 730a since I had to drop dh at work by 8a. I returned back to find mom in line at number 7 or 8. Turns out the first people arrived at appx 715am.

Soooooooooo this week she thought I'll get there earlier....got to the mall at 705am.... This week she was 14th in line seems the group got their earlier 650.

I am getting very very very annoyed. One woman and her 2 daughters get in line. Dad shows up 10-15 mins prior to opening and then each of them goes to the counter. Not so bad she buys her 2 sets with daughter number 1 and dad buys his 2 sets with daughter number 2. 4 sets total ok so dad's not copping a free ride in line without all the hastles and worst yet cheating the rest of us out of the pins (dad holds the cc and $$$$$). However I am really annoyed.

One woman who was there the last 3 weeks ( 2 of which we were on our cruise) was behind us last week--was now ahead of mom. Her dh shows up 15 minutes prior and has the audacity to PURCHASE PINS!!!!!!!!!!!

I kept my mouth shut this week, but if anyone ahead does this again I am going to complain to not only the store manager but to the district manager and probably mall security. I don't think it's fair that he did this...fact is i know it's not.

Now seems last week she missed out on all but 2 pins, so I guess she figures she will be extra sure this week. I offered to trade with her a pin she missed out on prior to dh arriving and cutting in line.

After he is at the register she looks at me and sez "if I missed out on any that I need IF she has any extra she will trade with me".......hmmmm maybe that pin she needs may just not have been extra guess I was mistaken.

So next week mom will be there. EARLY. and with her walkman since this group was so loud I could hear them when I entered the mall from the side entrance. Can't wait til next week.

By the way I take whatever place in line I get when I show up I don't cut in line and mom does not save me a space.

There were actually fewer people in line this week. However, I noticed some who were there were buying more than usual. SO I think it evened out.
And we all showed up within 5 minutes of when the mall allowed us in.
I did see once where a man was in line (#1 or #2). And when the line was longer, but still plenty early, his wife showed up and was beside him. I didn't think much of it until they both bought pins.
I asked DH if he thought anyone in the back of the line who did not get any pins caught onto this. They only have done it that once. Since then, they arrive together.
One woman is only collecting SW train. So this upcoming Saturday is her last time.

I must admit I've been really busy and not spending hardly any time on the boards, but pulled
this up during lunch today. It is fun to read what everyone's experiences have been/are. We
started doing numbers on post-it=notes about week 3. We have a core group of about 15 to 20
who have been there almost every week. The first folks get to the mall about 6:30 am. I usually
arrive about 7:30 to 7:45 and have been anywhere from #5 to #12. Only one week I did not get
2 of all released. The store had only gotten a few of one and none of the other. Otherwise they have had
at least one box, 24, of all released. We hang out trade pins, have breakfast, tell Disney stories and generally enjoy
on another. About 9:45 one of the CMs will come out and tell us what pins they got, anything else new, like
when the patriotic pins arrived and if anything of interest is on sale. Most of us know most of the CMs.

So we have all been pretty civilized so far. I do think by Dec 15 we will be camping out the night before!!
Oh yeah, and the mall guys don't know what to do with us. Security is fine, but the cleaning staff keep trying to
throw us out until about 8:30.
