Not sure where to post this. I ordered a couple of the Disneystore messenger bags a few months back. They were on sale (for something like $7) and were customizable. I saw many threads where people were saying they didn't hold up that well.

Against my better judgement I ordered a customizable messenger bag off the disneystore site this weekend for my daughter. They look a little different than the ones I ordered, the dimensions are different and they cost much more.

Has anyone tried these new bags out yet? Do they hold up better than the other ones or is it basically the same bag? I am wondering cause if the new ones are more sturdy I may order another one for myself.

I haven't tried the new ones. After buying the one on sale last year & it not holding up 1 day in the parks I gave up & tossed it up on the shelf at home once we returned. I use either a Vera Bradley hipster or a Tinkerbell Hobo Bag that I made myself. JMHO..........:goodvibes Maybe you'll have better luck with the new style.

I ws not happy with the quality... The inside fell apart by the end of our trip! I hope the new ones are better.

Here is a copy of my post in the "what bag should I carry in the parks" thread:

I purchased this bag at about this time last year on Disney's website. I got a really good deal on them - $12.99 each and free shipping - I couldn't pass it up! I am glad I got a good deal on them, because the quality is severely lacking - but because of what we did to them, they are now priceless - and even though they are falling apart on the inside, my daughters love them.

First off, here are a few photos of us carrying them inside the parks. I am a not-skinny 5'3" person. Pardon my grumpiness in the first photo, dh caught me off guard. :rolleyes1

Then my daughters carried the bags, as well. My oldest daughter is 11 and my youngest is 10. Both of them carried their bags themselves, and didn't complain about them being uncomfortable. Usually, they didn't carry anything in their bags, unless they took off their sweatshirts. I wanted the bags to be empty, because the purpose wasn't to carry anything, but I'll get to that later. Here are the promised photos:

Now, the purpose of these bags was not to make my daughters into pack mules... We decided that these would be their "autograph books". Their bags were signed by each character they met. The first few characters had "issues" signing on the bags - we had to encourage them and assure them that we really truly wanted them to write on the bags with sharpie. Once there were a few autographs on the bags, the characters no longer needed any encouragement. Here are a few photos of the nearly finished bags... I wish I had a good photo of the front of them - I may have to take one to post at a later date. :woohoo:

These bags now hang on their bedroom walls as the "ultimate souvinier"... they do use them for school bags occasionally - but not in the winter because the bags do not fit that much gear! I hope you enjoy, it was a lot of fun to watch the transformation of these bags... my girls even had "reserved sections" on them - youngest dd saved the front of her bag for the Pooh and Fairy characters - once they signed, she opened the front for anyone because she had run out of room everywhere else.

I just got one of the "new" small messenger bags for my birthday. Today is the first day I have used it (I'm trying to keep it nice for my trip in October but felt I had to carry it on my actual birthday). it seems pretty sturdy to me. I checked all the seams and everything when it was delivered. I have no experience with the other bag, but so far, I am very happy with this one!

good to know, I am hoping the higher price means better quality.
