Disney Store in Halifax

i spent 150 there this weekend too. snagged dd the last size 5/6 ariel costume, right place right time. the cm was going to get the hook to pull it down and mentioned the size....i didn't budge! lol

i've ordered from the website and not only did the shipping rates blow so did paying the duty on the item when it arrived at my door. i was speaking to ann there on the weekend, god love her, shes taking 3 weeks to go to europe and then 3 to spend at disney. she mentioned that a bc store is being re-opened after it closed however long ago-18 months i think? so there's always a glimmer of hope, altho not big. but ya think they wouldn't alienate their canadian customers so much. the way i see it just means ill have to convince hubby to go to disney more often!

That's always what is annoying. The taxes/duty or whatever when going through the mail. I spent $1750 last year in Florida, and the "permitted" amount was $750. I ended up paying $50. What is the reasoning for paying so much more when it goes through the mail?

Maybe they'll re-open the Moncton store one day... or better yet, a store in Charlottetown! I'm not holding my breath for any of them to be re-opened.

I just came from there and everything is now 50% off and going fast. They said they should be closed in the next few days :(

yeah i found the sign very misleading: time to go back into the lamp for something bigger/better or something like that. im sure its led many to believe they will re-open.

I was there tonight and it was so sad. Virtually nothing but plush and boxed dolls. No mugs, very few t-shirts. The shelves were being taken apart and there's nothing beyond the very front of the store. It'll be tomorrow or early Saturday that they close the doors for good. This was my last trip for sure. So disappointing!:sad2:

was there again this am too, and yeah you could practically see tumbleweeds roll through! i stocked up on the prince dolls for dd for her bday/christmas, a shirt for each kidlet and a few other small items. the kids don't need any more stuffies so i wasn't getting any, i can't believe how much went from saturday to today. donald said they marked it down to 50% off on tuesday.

Yesterday they figured it may be the last day. Probably depended on how much stock they moved. Boxed dolls and plush, and one small table of t-shirts was all they had left. Everything 50% off...still not really cheap as the t-shirt sales used to be better. Will miss this store....especially since we are not planning a trip this year, after having gone once a year for the last 6 years!

Was there today when the staff pulled across the security gate for the last time. A small crowd gathered to watch and you could hear some kids asking what happened to the store. The staff were inside, tearin down the remaining markings of what once was, and taking the last photos of the Mickey statue and the princess mirror by the dressing room. Still can't believe they closed! I'll certainly miss that store. It always made me feel like a kid again when I walked through it's doors.

What a sad day. We went to the store today because I didn't read the boards today to find out if it was closed or not. Sure enough bars on the doors and nothing left inside. My poor 2 year old DD burst into tears wondering where Mickey and Minnie went. It was always her first store she would run too. Brought a tear to my eye to see her so upset. At least I kept reminding her that she would see the real Mickey and Minnie in May. Such a sad day!!!

I know this thread is old, but I just read this today in "news about Halifax" column. Disney had licensed stores (which was owned by the chain "the children's place") and through some sales or a buy back and restructuring or something like that decided to take back full control of disney stores so they shut all the licensed stores down and have been reopening corporate disney stores. Halifax is among the ones they want to re open. Not sure how true this is, but it would be nice!! I am in Moncton! I miss ours!!!!

I still haven't gotten over them closing this store :sad2:
