So, took my little guys to the Disney Store this morning - and picked up three of the Earth Day Water Bottles. Since they said the bottles were going to be worth $8.50US, I was expecting a mini stainless steel bottle or something along those lines... What we ended up with was Green Plastic, listed as Made in China, from a #7 plastic - no little "BPA Free" logo or sticker in sight.

Since technically #7 is a catch all number (more than one type of plastic can be used in manufacturing, so BPA may be present) - I'm sort of wondering why they opted to hand these out... :confused3

Sorry if this comes across as being ungrateful, but I would have expected at least a BPA Free sticker at the very least. For now, I've washed the bottles and have put them away :sad1:

I picked up my bottle too. I didn't look at it that closely. Maybe I'll just keep it - hmmmm.

Not surprised, as most Disney stuff is crap...we don't buy much anymore and it saves us a good amount of money this way!

The biggest issue is not the BPA, but the fact that on Earth Day, they chose to give out plastic bottles. Plastic has got to be one of, if not the worst possible invention that is ruining our earth.

Disney missed the boat for Earth day, but as per usual, they aren't the marketing masters for nothing - it was a Disney promo that got you into their store and it worked! If you spent anymore money, it really worked.

Sorry you wasted your time going there, but it doesn't surprise me, Tiger :(

I think if Disney had actually posted *in advance* a picture of the exact water bottle they were going to give away, very few people would have picked up the freebie. I honestly was of the opinion they would have been giving away a kiddie sized stainless steel bottle - especially given they "claimed" the approx retail value was $8.50US.

I'm sure these little green plastic cheapos cost less than $.50 to make and have printed up. Disney should have opted to give away a free tote, it would have made everyone all the happier. Not to mention Disney could have tied it into every day use; by means of having people PAY for unnecessary plastic bags when shopping at their stores.

I too am not a fan of plastic, as our family uses Klean Kanteens on a regular basis. We actually had to ask neighbours for some plastic water bottles, in order to do the exchange... Mind you, we're also a cloth diaper using, unpaper towels, coop buying, kinda crunchy family :hippie:
