With a lot of the Disney Stores closing., maybe we should list the one's we know about (to get some bargains). Are any closing in New Jersey?

Great Idea, again

"Vultures"? Whaaat.............ever

From what I hear, TDS is not giving any advance notice so I don't know how many you will hear about. They are open one day, no "going out of business signs" and the next day... nothing!!

As much as I hate to say it, unless they bring back adult clothing and, most importantly, collectibles merchandise, they might as well close them all. They have very little remaining that isn't available elsewhere for less money.

Its been very sad to watch the decline of the Disney Stores over the past few years. Going there used to be the highlight of my week. Now, even if I'm at the mall, I often walk right past the store because I know they have nothing at all to interest me.

FYI, disney stores do not hold "closing or going out of business" sales. When a store closes, it is all boxed up and shipped to either their distribution center or other stores.

She said she saw an article in the newspaper about the impending closure, so keep an eye on the local and business sections. This often happens when leases are up - you will see stores either leave or just move to a new spot. Her store had a huge sale to get rid of their merchandise, but that may be because the next nearest DS is 75 miles away.

I think that this down sizing may be a good thing, as the DS have not been very profitable as of late - maybe it will become more manageable and more profitable. I agree that the stores need a new head buyer!!! When I voiced a concern about the lack in adult and teen merchandise to a CM last year, she stated rudely "that's not our market. " I thought, where does she think the 7 year olds get their cash? :p

Just seems to make sense that a family oriented company would market to the whole family...

FYI,
Two stores in Western Washington closed this month and both had going out of business sells...extra discounts were giving off of everything in the stores (even sell prices).

A CM here in the Seattle area claimed "as the leases expire, the stores that aren't making the grade are closed."

In Richmond, VA: The Disney Store closed at Regency Square Mall; still open at Chesterfield Towne Center.

I agree with the other posts about the stores needing more adult clothing & in general more variety. I would love to see them start carrying Disney jewelery again. On our last trips to the Disney Store, my boys couldn't even find anything they wanted - that's pretty bad because they always want something!
