For those who purchased the backpacks or thinking about getting one, I just wanted to let you know that I found better ones at the Gap. I recently purchased the DS Store one but will be selling it on ebay now and I never used it except to do the test below. The funny thing is, I never shopped at the children's Gap before. I saw them in the window and they really caught my eye.
Keep in mind, they are NOT disney. They have more padding in the backpack, which makes them nice and soft. The lunch tote holds more (which I tested with both totes) and has insulation. It also attaches the the backpack like the DS ones. To compare, in each lunch tote I put:
* Tupperware sandwhich container
* Box drink
* Snacks
The Gap tote held more items hands down...If you didn't use the tupperware hard container, the tote would hold even more. Especially the jello/pudding/yogart containers and things of that size. DEFINATELY a nicer size. I'm so glad I saw them...
Also, they have a cute change holder (purchase seperate) that holds dollar bills in a zipped compartment (nice for children) and a change section that velcros, along with another dollar slot for things and slits for ID or lunch cards. It also has a wrap around band to keep the coin purse shut. I found the Disney coin purse very disappointing. They contain no spots to hold coins. Children always have change!!! The DS change purse I was able to return when I found out it didn't contain a change section. The CM never noticed that and also thought it was dumb.
Again, the Gap is not Disney, but in my opinion, better for the buck. DD used hers this past weekend at Knoebels. The backpack held all her toys to entertain her while on the road and we attached the lunch tote to hold drinks and snacks for her till we got there.
Just thought some of you would like to know this information. I love the DS but after I found the Gap backpacks, I was very disappointed in what Disney could have done or done better (esp the change purse that doesn't hold change).
