Disney store announcement about Frozen Merchandise

July/August though?? They are missing the boat big time. I am shocked at how Disney dropped the ball on this entire franchise. They have known since before Christmas that it was HUGE and they have nothing until July/August!! Not cool.

My friend went to one of these last weekend and "won" a drawing for an Elsa dress in her daughter's size ... Along with a lot of other people. No numbers were ever given out on how many they had, but she said it seemed like a LOT of those who entered got things. They also had ALL of the other Frozen merchandise behind the counter, where you had to stand in line to inspect and purchase. She said she "got caught up in the frenzy" and ended up buying several more things than planned. Imagine she wasn't the only one.

Makes you wonder how much is genuine shortage and how much is sales strategy for Disney, cashing in on the eBay and scarcity hype. I mean, these aren't exactly couture-quality gowns. Hard to believe that production/shipment couldn't have been vastly increased to meet demand since December's initial crush.

What if you aren't available on Saturdays to camp out at their stores? Guess this will sure save me a lot of money!

Yep, no reason they couldn't make those kids in the sweatshops work 100 hours a week instead of just 70.

The Saturday thing is stupid. :confused3 I get limiting how many someone can buy... but which day? At store opening??? Are they trying to create a weekly Saturday frenzy?? Sounds like trouble to me.

The Saturday thing is to let guests know WHEN certain products will be available. Before, they were put onstage on random days, and times. People did not like this, hearing, you just missed that item! Etc. Most items still stocked when they come in, like clothing, many toys, dinnerware, mugs, etc.

Disneystore online has all Frozen items pretty often. I have seen the Elsa dress this week, in all sizes, along with all the plush and dolls. (It was Tuesday morning).

As the supply increases, the demand will even out, because then the Ebayers will drop out of the hunt.

One Elsa dress per guest will certainly cut down on the Ebay sales. To eliminate them entirely they'd probably have to require that the child be present, that wouldn't work.

Saturday, because these items are SO popular that they are grabbed the second they go out. Therefore if you weren't there when they went out, you didn't get any. And then comes the complaints. Now at least you know when they will be put out and if you want to go over there and fight other folks to get the 2 you're allowed, then you know when to do it.

No doubt they chose Saturday because it's a weekend.

As the supply increases, the demand will even out, because then the Ebayers will drop out of the hunt.

And the more the market is saturated with the products, the further down the demand will go, because they won't be rare items anymore.

A huge part of the wait was that Disney didn't realize it was a huge hit until towards the end of 2013, and many businesses in China celebrate Chinese New Year and are closed towards the beginning of the year (2014), so orders placed at the end of 2013 were going to sit for 2 months before being filled.

That explains some of the lag.

We're 'disneybounding' in October and the 10 year old in our party is much more into that than wearing a typical princess costume. (The 2 year old doesn't know which end is up yet and the 5 year old is just thrilled to come along and I'm sure my rich nice sister will find her some adorable princess frocks, if not Frozen ones) So tonight I'm sewing doodads on an icy blue dress for her and we're making our own, LOL! :cheer2:

Crappy. This lack of merchandise was really disappointing for us, being our first trip to DW and the kids excitement to spend their long saved money on Frozen things. We *did* see Anna dresses in the store today after the meet & greet in the park, but they were tiny sizes.

LOL I've never heard so many people complain about the lack of opportunity to buy over-priced foreign made trinkets!
