Has anyone ever bought the one share of Disney stock that is sold online? I've never bought any stock and really do not know much about buying stock.I thought this would be a nice Christmas present.

are you talking about something like OneShare.com?

If so, there really isn't much that you will need to know. You will get a nice certificate in a frame. Your price will be the cost of one share of stock, plus some fees, the price of the frame, and shipping or whatever. As an "investment" you will most likely have to hold onto for decades and decades just to make your money back. It will earn you a right to vote in Disney Proxy votes and if you go stand in line you can get into the annual Shareholder meeting. :rotfl2:

So really, what you need to view it as is more purchasing a nice picture for your wall. And it is that. :)

There used to be some codes around for $5 off. I'm not sure where to find them now.

My family bought me one share of Disney stock just prior to the 3 for 1 split. Back then the shares were running about $120, so it was a MIGHTY expensive piece of paper. The good news is that, when the shares split, Disney sent me another stock certificate worth TWO shares. So I suppose I could have that one framed as well.

Since the share was purchased, the stock has dropped to a little more than half the original face value. So I definitely consider it a piece of artwork and not a real investment.
