Disney still magic for adults

I can tell you from experience that a visit to WDW is still magic for this old guy. If it weren't, I wouldn't be planning to extend my annual holiday-time solo visit to WDW after several years of enjoying the resort with my wife, children, grandchildren, and on one occasion even the great grandchild who was in our party not so long ago.

So, yes, Walt Disney World is for us old guys too. In November, I'll be visiting the French Quarter for yet another solo week at The World. (Not bad for a 76 year old, huh? Of course these days I skip the rides that I deem to be "jerkey or bumpy" but love the shows and the classic rides like the Haunted Mansion and the "People Mover," and smooth coasters like Expedition Everest, and I always enjoy several of the restaurants as well.

I always have and will be under the influence of Disney magic I think if WDW wasnt magical for adults as well people wouldnt go there as much. They would go for the kids, but it would be consideringly less desirable.

I agree it's still magical for adults. This year was my first ever Disney vacation and I was blessed to be able to take my kids. I was happy that they'd be able to experience it as kids since I've wanted to go to WDW since forever. Well, I became a kid again too! Me and DD12 bonded like never before and had the BEST time! The moment we stepped off the plane, we felt the magic! My ds was only 5 months old but he got some big grinson his face too! I can't wait till next year when he can start taking it in just a little more. He'll be 18 months and 2 years old the next times we'll be back (March and December 2010).


We went with my sister and her family too. Let me tell you that my sister is probably one of the meanest people you'll ever meet. Just yells for no reason! Well, once we hit MK, that girl was converted! So yes, if it can turn that mean witch into a giggling kid again, I gotta say that there's some pixie dust sprinkled all throughout that place!

Reminds me of my friend the retired Municipal Judge who is a great fan of Space Mountain. His family helped us decide to join the DVC.

Actually, after my last trip, sometimes I think bringing the kiddos along kills the magic.

If you do bring kids, I do think that you're better off if you're a go with the flow type of person. The ones who drag Junior out all day in the park and then scream at him because he's not keeping up or is tired are missing the whole point. It's the small things that are enjoyable when going with kids..toss out the touring plan and just have fun.

Sadly, you could tell just by the expressions on some people's faces that the vacation seemed to be more of a chore than anything else.

Disney is magical for all ages. My kids are teens now and I am still considering purchasing into DVC. I LOVE visiting Mickey!

DH and I have been to Disney with our niece, nephew, BIL and SIL our last 3 trips. We have not been alone in Disney since 2006!!! That's a crime!

Now I KNOW I made the right choice not to have kids- I was pouting b/c *I* did not get to go on ToT, RRC, EE I am just selfish- don't mess with my adult Disney experience

I love them both to death- but I am not ready to go back any time soon with kids, it's just not the same Disney I know and love.

Kids are a highly over rated commodity (except for ours, well, most of ours.)

I'm making flight reservations today for six of us and we have our favorite pool home rented, but the kids have been told to rent their own car 'cause Mom and Dad have their own plans. We learned half way through our last trip that the best days don't involve groups and having everyone stop each time someone wants to use a bathroom.

You'll see us at rope drop each day while the kids, bless their sleepy little hearts, mope around the house trying to decide what to do.

We're happy to bring them, but we don't let them hold us back any longer. Mom and Dad have a plan, and we're not missing a thing!

Our kids were an 'old' 6, 7, and 9 during our first visit to Disney. Our DS7 asked why there were so many adults at the parks. I told him that Disney is really for adults, they just 'allow' children to come along! Now at 24, 26, and 27, we can enjoy Disney together.

Heck yeah it is still for adults. We have an 8 and 6 year old and my DH and I still have just as much fun as our kids do. I am like my kids and love to go up and give the characters hugs and I get a huge smile whenever I see Cinderella's castle, heck I get a huge smile when I see the Magical Express Bus at MCO. It always seems like that parent's get more excited about a Disney trip than the kids do

this is a good article. i get sick of reading "other online articles" that diss disney and say that they were underwhelmed by their experience.
i am also a fan of the passporter and unoffical guides
