I have booked my hotel direct with Disney due to travel out on Thursday next week, that is now looking very unlikely! Anyway is anyone else in the same position? If so have you had any joy with Disney and the option to change/amend booking free of charge?

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd be interested in this too. We're due to fly out on Saturday 24th for our Disney wedding on 29th April. We and several of our guests have direct bookings with Disney along with tours, group dining etc.

I'm trying to be positive as there are still a few days to go but it's difficult when there's so much invested into this trip

My Aunty and Uncle are also going on Thursday from Gatwick ... they are staying on Disney. They always go DIY and went through Disney for the accommodation. I think they are going to wait until Tuesday to see if the situation improves.
Would be interested to know how Disney will deal with this :confused3

We are in the same position, we are flying out a few days later than you. I am not only worried for ourselves but also our guests.

I am praying for a huge storm or DF says a change of wind direction will help. Fingers crossed for you

same here. due to fly out on friday, trying to be poistive but it is very hard. People telling me no to be to upset as its a moment in history but these people haven't spent all this money, worked very hard to pay for it, been looking forward to it for a year and spent 6 months planning it. Sorry end of rant. Just keeping my fingers crossed.

I'm with you on this one. I'm not sure I could look back at this in a years time, having lost out on a holiday and all the money that goes with it, and say 'Well at least I was part of history'
I know which story I would rather tell my grandkids - and it doesn't start 'In 2010 I was supposed to go on holiday'

Rant away! I feel the same. People keep saying there's nothing we can do - well of course I know that, but the last two years of planning and now worrying how we will stand this time next week - I just feel sick. I really hope everyone manages to get away on time pixiedust: if ever we needed some pixie dust....

I think we are going to do the same wait till Tuesday and then make a call on it.. Not looking good at the moment however:headache::headache:

I think by the end of the week we'll be going, if these test flights go OK today/tomorrow then the airlines will be pushing to start flying.
I saw on the news this morning that by the end of the week there is going to be a storm coming from the south and will blow the ash north away from us, if this happens then it's sounding good.

It's the first (and only) time i'll be glad to see a storm coming :goodvibes

I've heard this too - directly from a BA pilot (step-mother's brother).

I hate all this good weather we're are getting at the moment! I pray for wind and rainstorms!

Piglet - I sincerely hope we can both make our weddings - I know exactly what you must be going through right now. We've e mailed our planner to try and come up with a contingency plan. Sending you pixie dust too pixiedust:

Let's just hope everyone makes it home and to their chosen destinations whatever their reason for travel :grouphug:

:wizard:
Pixie dust for you all!! I'd be happy to be stuck in England with horendous stormy weather if it means the ash clears and everyone gets to go on their Disney holidays. I know how much we've spent and how much time has gone into planning already and we're still 4 months out from our trip.
Good luck guys! :)

The rain and winds have started here on the east of Scotland so let's hope they continue so you can all get
on your well earned holidays. I'm feeling a little nervous and I'm notgoing until September.
Sending pixie dust and storm thoughts to everyone!

I hope everyone gets to Disney okay, i feel for you all. I don't go until September but i know how i would be feeling.

Lets all throw as much pixie dust at the volcano as we can and hopefully block it.

You have no idea how strongly I support you on this one! I have grouched about the long winter no end - but now I would honestly forfeit good weather the entire summer if it means everyone gets to go ahead with their plans.

Yes! Very slightly west of central Scotland and the wind and rain are here too. :cheer2::woohoo: Now I NEVER imagined I would EVER be saying that, and meaning it!!!

If I was due to fly away this week, I would not be putting my faith in the same weather service that stated that the last two years would be barbecue summers, and who failed to correctly estimate the severity of the weather that brought the country to a complete standstill a few months ago... :confused3

We are in the same boat, only in the opposite direction. My wife is due to leave for Heathrow tomorrow. Even though the news keeps saying that all flights are cancelled we still have to get to the airport at 6am. She has a connecting flight so now it looks like they are going to make her fly into Chicago, wait there and hope a flight gets out. We have made several calls but we keep getting connected to some call center in India where the people are totally useless. Absolute lunacy :confused3

The only good news is that my sister lives near Chicago, so if my wife does get stranded there she will have a place to stay and not be stuck in the terminal. I doubt all the other passengers will be as lucky as she is.

Good Luck...fingers crossed you manage to get away...hopefully with what the news are saying this morning.....

They've got 19 days to decide if it's safe to fly or not before I'm due to fly. Rebooking is not an option as my holidays are fixed and this is the only time they match up with the missus.

I'm sorry to put a downer on things but I'm on the West Coast and the sun is shining with no wind. Roll on the horrible weather and howling gales, so worth it for two weeks in the sunshine of Florida.

I emailed Disney yesterday asking for some clarification on how they stand, a statement or something.I await their reply.
I would hope with the number of people this affects, and after the wonderful gesture of Sea World they would want to put a positive spin on this!
