We all know that Disney is a public company and they have fiduciary responsibilities to each share holder which I am one.
As it relates to the Parks division, there is a fine line between normal increases and robbery. No one minds to "get what I pay for", however, when prices go up and overall service declines, that is a problem. I see postings from today guest are being offered gift cards in lieu of having their rooms cleaned. Unless you enjoy the rooms cleaned daily, sounds like a win win for Disney and guest. If this sticks, besides cutting staff, the value of the gift cards will surely decrease and/or increased room rates as a cost item for these cards will more than offset and become yet a new profit center.
I am a DVC member so most of the room rate increases do not effect me directly but with ticket prices increasing at an increasing rate each year, some of my friends simply cannot afford a week's vacation with their disposable income at the Happiest Place on Earth.
I remember when Disney put the chip in all the cups to work at the dispensers. I am sure this brings in for Disney hundreds of thousands of more dollars and I guess that all that matters. With the recent changing of how FPs are obtained at kiosk on non ticketed media, do you think that was to just to stop the non-Disney tour guides from hording them? When will we begin paying for the privilege of havin FPs (see Disneyland Max Pass)?
None of these increases/changes have stopped my family from going and loving Disney so am I just too cynical and this is the way of the (Disney)world?
