We’re skipping the parks during this season, but what about Disney Springs? If you had Sunday all day to spend, would you go to Disney Springs? (Likely january 3 would be a free day for us). I’m not a current pass holder, but a Florida resident, so looking for something cheap, and fun for the family who had two Disney vacations cancelled in 2020. The first one was in May, the 6 year olds first visit, the second in August when we rescheduled. I’d like to give them a taste of “next year”.

Sure. If the weather is nice, it would be fun to walk around and look at the trees (I'm assuming they will still be up at that point) and then have lunch somewhere fun. I like the holograms and such at the Lego store and a few shopping things like that. I would probably leave by the time it got dark as DS has been a lot more crowded in the evenings but it's up to you...

After you park at Disney Springs, consider taking a bus to a monorail resort, ride the monorail to see Grand Floridian and Contemporary, have lunch, and then take the bus back to Disney Springs. This takes a half day, easily. If the weather's really good and warm enough, add a boat ride from the MK dock to Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness - which has a playground near the beach.

If your child(ren) would be frustrated at seeing the crowds of people going into MK (but your family not going inside), then skip that route on this visit. The views of Epcot/HS park gates are more distant and less kid-enticing from the Skyliner stations than the views of MK from the monorail. So...

Alternately, from Disney Springs, you could take a bus to one of the Epcot resorts, walk around Crescent Lake, get lunch and an ice cream or bakery treat, ride Skyliner to Caribbean Beach Resort (from either Epcot's International Gateway or HS), and then take a bus back to Disney Springs. Again, if the weather's great, include a ride on a Friendship boat between a couple of the Epcot resort stops. If you love the Skyliner, take it all the way out to Art of Animation - there may be a playground there too.

I stopped at Disney Springs last week and each store has a limit on How many shoppers they will allow in, but the outdoor areas were packed and it was impossible to keep a safe distance in certain areas. That could be because it was a night a week before Christmas. If you go in the morning on a weekday I imagine it’s much less crowded.

Yeah, the outdoors areas were incredibly crowded. Like normal.
