Disney Springs Security

Reports are that the Resorts Bus drop off entrance finally has a full Security checkpoint.

It had been really puzzling why this was the only entrance without one.

I guess the poor Security Dog that was always there was supposed to catch everything. Lol
Over the last few years I always drove to Disney Springs, was just easier for DS. A few years ago we took the bus and I was SHOCKED that there was no security check. How easy it would be for a "bad person" to come in via that route. It's bad enough Disney Springs is usually packed and uncomfortable for me, but such a big loophole was a big concern. We stopped going. I have only returned once in years (last month without my DS who is disabled). Even then just ate and left because I didn't feel safe there.

This is GREAT! Perhaps we'll go back now.

Ugh...I get it, but still a hassle.
I agree. I remember the lines when they had a Covid checkpoint set up there. It felt like it took forever to get through because of the volume of guests arriving by bus. I hope they are able to do it in such a way that it is both thorough and quick. I don’t mind them doing it, but I do mind waiting 20 minutes to get into a shopping center.

If it’s too time consuming I would probably drive instead, as much as I hate to. On a weekday morning there are a lot fewer people arriving by car and the checkpoint in the garage doesn’t take long to get through.

I am sure it uses those new style-scanners they started using a few years ago. You just walk through, no stopping. It's very efficient.

I didn’t see the full security that they used in the other entrances when I resort hopped last week.

Omg...just saw a post that shows long lines and stating 30+ min waits to get into DS. The poster said they only had 1 metal detector working (not sure type). I sure hope they get it figured out before our trip next week...yikes.

Looks like the rollout needed a little more planning!lol

People also need to realize they can just walk through the metal detectors without stopping or walking super far apart from the person in front of them (assuming they're the same scanners they have in the garages). A lot of times the holdup is related to that, even when the security guards are calling out the instructions.

(No, I'm sure that's no the entire holdup, but it's probably a contributing factor).

Hmmm...so I started digging a little more and the reports are that you have to go through security even to just transfer buses (like to Typhoon Lagoon from your resort.) Hopefully they swiftly come up with better implementation.

I don’t see any way to avoid the security for bus transfers without opening up another loophole. You would have to put up barricades that allow people to enter the bus depot, but not change their minds and decide to return to shopping, eating, or a last minute bathroom break once they have reached the buses. They probably decided they would have fewer complaints from people having to go through security prior to a bus transfer than if they told people they couldn’t go back to DS once they reach a certain point without going through security a second time.

The only thing I think they could do would be to add a separate security line for bus transfers only at the resort bus drop off point. How they would police it so that it didn’t get clogged up with people trying to avoid the long regular line would be the biggest issue. Either that or have buses drop off at the depot as well as pick up (like they do at theme parks) and have the entire bus depot isolated with security in and out for all (meaning if you enter or leave the depot you are checked, but moving from one bus to another within the depot would not require a check).

I am glad they have some time to iron out the wrinkles before my next trip. . .

OR how about direct buses to Typhoon!

Skyliner should be saving enough bus routes to at least partially cover that.

Having to transfer at the Springs is ridiculous.

The All-Stars could share a direct bus,Pop Century,AoA and CBR,the Crescent Lake Resorts,etc.

Seriously! Scan whatever you want but don't touch my stuff with the same gloves you've been wearing all day.

I don't really care if they see or touch my stuff its just annoying and takes too long and people bring giant backpacks filled to the brim with tons of compartments and they are not prepared with everything open when they get to the table.
