I am in the preliminary stages of planning my first solo trip to WDW in January 2020. Wondering about the hotels in the Disney Springs area, if anyone has stayed in one could you tell me about your experience. When we stay on Disney property we always stay at Port Orleans Riverside, but in doing a mock booking it looks to be quite a bit less expensive to stay at another hotel, specifically the Best Western in the Springs area. Do you still have bus transportation to the parks as you do when staying in on-site resorts?

You might get more responses if you post this on the Orlando Hotel Board.

I stayed there earlier this year for 2 nights before our Cabins stay. The Best Western is a decent clean hotel, the bus system is not anywhere near as good as Disney. You have to go to all the resorts in the Springs area before going to the parks. They get sardine in a can packed. If transportation is one of the things that is a deciding factor I would say don’t do it. It takes twice as long and the bus fills up fast. If the savings are that big though you could use Uber or Lyft and go to the parks directly, but that defeats the money savings. I did like the Best Western just not the bus aspect of it, no outside hotel I have stayed at in Orlando has a bussing system as good as Disney.

Best Western has been bought by Drury. Plans approved to build another tower, rework public areas and then renovate existing tower. I would imagine by 2020 it should be under construction.

Bus is the only one I would consider other than Disney. If you look at top of Orlando board there is thread dedicated to buses.
