Disney Springs progress?

Never been a huge fan of Downtown Disney but was planning on checking out all the changes during our May trip. How far along are they with the reconstruct? Any updates I can be pointed too or current reviews?

Disney springs is coming along nicely. There's still a lot of building and construction that will last for quite some time before it's finally done. However it's a lot easier to go to and navigate now than it was say last year. The new parking garage is great, the new shops and stores they have are pretty nice. It's a nice area that if you want to go to, I'd definitely go.

Lots of new things. Still some things being rehabbed and whatnot but plenty to do.

May 15th things in Town Center will start to open. Things are coming along very well and it's worth a visit.

How is the parking situation now? In November of 2014 we had to park across the road and walk far to get there.

Parking garage 1 is open and very nice. Can also park over by cirque du soleil and walk or take the boat. Can also park across the street in the parking lots and use the pedestrian bridges to cross instead of waiting for traffic.

The second parking garage that is a lot closer to the marketplace is coming along nicely but is still under construction

When I'm at WDW I'm looking exclusively for Disney merch, the other stuff can be found cheaper at home and I don't have to transport it. I understand that shopping for misc. stuff is enjoyable for a lot of people, but for me the East end will suffice, and I think it's pretty much "done" as far as any changes are concerned. There are some nice new eateries in DS, and I know that guests from other countries can score great deals at the other shops compared to what they can get at home.

No Disney has only said things will start to open one at a time starting May 15th.

Most everything is open. The stuff that is closed are new additions that are waiting to be opened. All the shops that have been there have not closed at all

Disney has kept the marketing of this location very low key. I have no idea if that's due to the license agreement between Marvel & Universal that was in place prior to Disney buying Marvel.

The actual store however is VERY small and can get quite crowded.
