Ok..... back again to ask.... never stayed offsite before, this is just one night to enjoy WDW,and disney springs- Either a suite at doubletree,or two rooms at hilton ....which is preferable? I'm leaning towards Hilton b/c it's a short walk to the springs......appreciate advice.

Well .............. I MUCH prefer Doubletree but for one night and just a bed I'd stay at Hilton.

BUT ............. the price would dictate, Hilton would have to be less than Doubletree, and don't forget it's rate plus a hefty resort fee at Hilton. Both have parking charges, Doubletree may be slightly less.

Also check the Disney Springs Resort Area page (http://disneyspringshotels.com/) - they often have promotions that cover the resort fee, parking or include breakfast.

Unfortunately the two OP is asking about rarely waive those fees. They don't even waive parking for handicapped tags even though other top tier Hiltons do.

Some of the other DS hotels do at times. Those fees can sometimes be waived with Mousesavers offers as well.

The Buena Vista Palace Hilton didn't have a parking charge in March. However, it did have the resort fee. We had booked it a year out though when it didn't have the fee yet and didn't have to pay it.

We loved the BVP Hilton. The pool and location were great!

so they both charge for parking, but hilton also has the resort fee? Anyone know how much that is?

Hilton $25 plus tax for resort fee.
Parking $18 per day per site but I question that because ..
Doubletree shows $20 per day parking and Hilton has been higher.

The Hilton Buena Vista Palace across from Hilton has free parking,
and $25 Resort Fee.

:scared1: That's high! I'm glad you told me! I don;t know if that amount is worth the few minutes longer walk from another hotel on the strip.....

Every time I see a deal for Hilton I think .. oh I can ignore the great need for rehab for that price but then I add the resort fee and ........ I book elsewhere (and we are Hilton people). Now at least with the few perks you get ... Buena Vista Palace has a great pool and lazy river that kinda justifies it but we are doing Disney, pools don't matter much.

well, I think my big consideration was walking to the Springs...... and how easy that will be for our group

You can book the doubletree through the disneyspringshotels.com website and you get a lower rate with free parking and wifi. That's what they call the "disneysprings promo. That's what we did because we figured the free parking was more worthwhile than free continental breakfast through mousesavers.

How's the parking in Disney Springs? I haven't driven there since before the garages etc- I suppose we can drive my MIL over if the walk is too long for her, the doubletree sounds much nicer, and it costs less.......

The new parking decks have completely changed the experience. Plenty of parking!

I'm reading two different things online...the Buena Vista palace has free self parking? That makes a difference.....

Yes, the Hilton Buena Vista Palace currently offers free self parking. It's right on the home page of their official website:

THIS IS OLD INFORMATION: The Hilton Buena Vista Palace now charges $10/night for self parking. (Edited 6/15/17)

For comparison, this is the Hilton Lake Buena Vista:

And the DoubleTree Suites (if parking isn't included in a specific room rate):

Make sure you're looking at the correct Hilton. There are two...both across the street from Disney Springs.

The Hilton Lake Buena Vista (labeled as "Hilton located in the Walt Disney World Resort" above) has been a Hilton for many years. That's the hotel that charges $18/night for self-parking.

The Hilton Buena Vista Palace (labeled as "Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa" above) was an independent hotel that joined Hilton after it was renovated. That hotel offers free self-parking.

(Yes, it's very confusing. As someone who used to work in hospitality, I can't fathom why they did this. I have a sneaking suspicion that the older Hilton will be leaving the brand. It's not a well-run hotel and is in need of both a physical renovation and overall of guest services. Without those, I don't seem them able to maintain the Hilton brand standards for much longer.)
