I'm reading that they've moved the bus stop closer to the parking garage, yet when you look at a map of Disney Springs, it appears the Marketplace bus stop still exists. Can anyone confirm this??

TIA,
Brenda

The bus stop near the Marketplace is for non-Disney buses, ie, nonDisney hotels, city buses, etc. The new stop by the garage is for all the Disney resort buses.

The old bus stop is also the new taxi stand (there is a coupel that stay at the old spot). uber is not allowed in that stop and you need to get to the old spot near cirque if your ubering.

The Disney Resort buses are now at the new location near Town Center. But wear your comfy shoes . . . the new bus loop is massively sprawling and not as convenient for guests as the old Marketplace loop. Designed for the bus and not for the rider. Be prepared to walk lots just to get to your bus stop. Whoever engineered this marvel, doesn't take a bus in real life and/or has never stayed at WDW and actually walked 10+ miles a day before heading to Dis Springs for another couple of hard walking miles.

They designed it to be similar to the MK bus loop. In my opinion the marketplace stop was cramped and didn't work well. You had too many buses and not enough stops at th marketplace stop which is why you had stops 1a, 1b, etc.

I agree. Whoever designed the loop and /or decided on its location should be fired. It's absolutely awful. For anyone just wishing to visit the Marketplace area only (which is probably the case for many - if not a majority of WDW resorts guests), it is incredibly inconvenient to the point where it will not be worth heading over to Disney Springs at all.

I'm sure whoever first suggested a single, consolidated Disney Springs bus loop away from the Marketplace was likely praised. It's a smart business decision. It's also nothing new. Just look at Universal Orlando. From the transportation point (the parking garages) to your destination (the theme parks), you have to go through CityWalk.

I also think your claim that the majority of WDW resort guests only want to visit the Marketplace area is dubious. Every time I've visited Disney Springs, the non-Marketplace areas are full of people...particularly the West Side and The Landing.

I have no doubt the intention was to make everyone walk through all the standard, you-can-find-them-in-any-mall-in-America, shops in the Town Center area before getting to the Marketplace - and even the Landing. I just think it will backfire. I feel a majority of WDW resort guests arriving at that bus stop will primarily want to go to the Disney-focused shops in the Marketplace and the other areas to much lesser extent. I don't disagree that the West Side & Landing are are usually very crowded. It's just, if I were a betting man, I'd wager that it's probably with a much higher concentration of locals than the Marketplace.

The bus depot is horrendous..

It's like they took the out of the way, horrid pleasure island stop...moved it farther away...made it bigger...

...and took the one people used out of commission near the marketplace.

And the new one is located near all that stuff you don't want to buy...great.

Part of this is the "need" to accommodate articulated buses...double the capacity at half the convenience/efficiency/respectability.

Two words: LIGHT RAIL

Agree. I thought the walk was ridiculous for those who are basically interested in the Marketplace.

We walked 28,000 steps every day in the parks. We didn't appreciate that walk just to get a bus home.

It shows how little the designers think of you...

They designed the buses to make you traverse the entire third party operated mall setup to get to what most people liked: the quaint feel of the old Disney village that still remains at the marketplace.

The crowds during my trip to "town center" seemed like the buses that drop of at the outlets off I-4 just went there instead...I wouldn't have known the difference if I hadnt know any better

YES !! All of this - I could not have said it better my self. The buses on top of the 'outlet mall' feel have just ruined Downtown Disney for me. I was devastated when they removed the Comedy Warehouse and I can definitely say the changes are not for the better.

I hate the new bus location! As a parent all the kid friendly type places to eat and visit are on the other side! Such as rainforest cafe, goofy's candy shop, Earl of Sandwich, etc! Prior to the move it was so nice to be close to everything. While we were there we got lost trying to find the busses as there was very little signs or directions! Also I do not like the normal mall feeling of the place! And the bus location they could have easily added a cross walk for those going to places like POP or AOA! It seems the whole thing is geared town night life vs families.

This too. We arrived at the bus loop after the long walk from the Marketplace and our resort (CBR) station was basically just across the road. I could probably spit and reach it. However, we had to basically walk down in the direction towards the West Side about the length of a football field, make a wide u-turn, and then walk back the entire length of a football field again. Ridiculous design all the way around.
