Disney Solo??

Another vote for POFQ, it's easily my favorite of the mods for all of the reasons mentioned- size, boat to DTD, tends to be a bit more laid back and I think it has a such a charming atmosphere.

Also, fresh beignets at the Food court! :thumbsup2

Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys solo trips! I'm currently planning my second solo trip for short notice -- 8 weeks from today! DH and the DSs are going camping with friends that weekend, so I figured out the cost and suggested that I go to WDW for my break -- and DH had no trouble with it (his only concern is the finances, not whether or not I go). I'm staying at Pop, and I'm finding that I can get ADRs at EVERY restaurant, for the times I'm picking! Must be going right before school gets out.

When I went the first time in 2007, I had a great time -- able to do what I chose to do, I explored lots of Epcot that my kids and DH didn't have patience for, sat longer than they like to just sit. It was great! The next year I went with a friend, the year after that with the family -- neither of those two trips was satisfying (for many reasons, although I had a good time for the most part), so I'm excited to go solo again. If anyone's going to be there June 1, 2, or 3, I'd love to meet up and share a meal! Don't hesitate to go by yourself -- you'll have a great time.

I've been to Disney several times but kind of want to go again this year. My last trip was last year and stayed a few days at AK with my niece. This time i'm considering going it alone. Have no child I want to borrow or pay for. :lmao: How weird is that?? I don't know why I feel apprehensive. Any suggestions, thoughts? Looking at going at the end of the summer, maybe with the free dining package discount.

Karen :confused3

I just booked my first solo trip and found that the room discount the beginning of August is a better deal than the free dining. I'm staying at ASMU and weeknights are $73/night and weekends are $86 night.

It is more economical to go to WDW by yourself, and you have the flexibility to do whatever you want to do. Not sure why it would be so taboo. To me, someone who would go on such a vacation has all the answers! :goodvibes

I have my first solo trip planned (and booked) for October. I'm a little nervous that I'll be lonely, but I know WDW like the back of my hand, and I think it's the only place I'd be willing to go alone. I just feel like I'd get to the airport here, and even before boarding, be thinking "what was I thinking doing this alone?!". And at that point, it's too late to change my mind!! I'm a bit of a chicken as you can tell! But then theres another part of me that thinks it'd be a great experience for me, to prove to myself that I can do this, and who doesnt have fun in Disney?! I know I have time to decide as I have so far only booked a room only ay POP, so I wouldn't lose anything if I cancelled. Help! What should I do?!

I always go solo when on vacation in the US. I am from Germany and quit the "travel buddy" thing years ago. Ever since I have enjoyed my vacations more than ever before! I will make my first trip to WDW staying on site in may and I'm really counting the days. Since english is a foreign language for me, I always feel a bit awkward for the first day or so before I really start chatting with people around me. Trust me, solo trips are the best. I have been to so many parks: Six Flags, Disneyland, Universal '(both CA and FL), Seaworld CA+FL and some more...all of them solo. It is so much fun NOT having to rely on other people or compromise when it comes to the decisions about what to to when. Just go, enjoy yourself, do what you want to do when you want to do it. You will be there alone but you for sure won't be lonely. I have always had the nicest chats with people waiting in line with me or sitting next to me at shows. Last year I went on a snorkeling trip down in the Keys, met a really nice couple and they even invited me for dinner that night. I swam with dolphins, spent time at the beach, enjoyed the nightlife in Miami, rode a bike through the everglades beeing closely watched by alligators :scared1: had fun with characters at the parks, took advantage of the single rider lines there and just had a blast!
Trust me...if you go solo once, you can't wait for the next solo trip. The only downside for me was, that I couldn't share all the fun with friends and family in Germany. But to make up for that, I sent lots of emails and posted pictures of "my day" once back at the hotel at night.

I will be going solo for the 3rd time this year I find disney is the best place to go solo there is so much to do and the people are so friendly

I am in the same boat,Disney Dad planning my frist trip to WDW solo. DS now 19 has decided to go out and set his owen roots and decided to put the mouse on the back burner. Now I am looking at my frist trip anywhere(the Disney Mom does not like Disney??) and feeling kind of guilty, but really looking forward at the same time. We did our last trip last Oct(MNSSHP) we tool his DGF,she was diffently not into it, she mainly wanted to spend most of her time in the room. My DS did spend some time with the Dad at the parks but i can see he was getting burn out. So my plan this year was to do MMVCP In Nov,and DS said naa on going so I am planning my solo trip, big one to 10 days at POP. My fear Is i will get down there and then the fact that my DS will not be there and sadness will set in. I feel all the folks who planning and have gone solo with out there kids, but its a new adventure and that we will in dought look forward to try

I am taking my first solo trip in 17 days! Couldnt' decide where to stay so am splitting an eight day trip between POFQ and POR RGR. Like a previous post, I am a little worried about getting a bit lonely, but am really excited about relaxing and doing what I want to do.
I am definitely doing lunch at LTT and want to try dinner at Boatwright's. I will also be taking advantage of the DTD places, but am debating making some other ressies for sit down places that I have never eaten at before. I am a DVC member (although out of points until 2014) so can take advantage of some lunch discounts like GFC.

Hey everyone,

Im new to DISBoards and it was great to see that people are going solo, I have been thinking about it lately because I don`t really have anyone who is as Disney obsessed as I am or who can get the same time off from work.

So good to know it`s not weird :)

Hello neighbor!
I echo that don't have anyone as obsessed with Disney as I am feeling. That's why I'm going solo in May! Woohoo! 24 days and counting! It'll be my 5th trip in 3 years, but my first solo trip (the first three were with my girlfriend, and the last one, this past December, was with her, my parents and my sister). I'm so looking forward to a week of doing exactly what I want when I want!

I say go, go, GO!!! ::yes::
