I am hoping to add another one of these to my collection this year, does anyone know if Disney are doing special 100th Celebration editions.

Thanks

Helen :)

Yes, Helen, they are. I have a very small one which is available everywhere. I'll post a photo later. Also, in one of the gift shops on the right-hand side of Main Street as you look at the Castle (and probably other places too), they have some quite extravagant ones which are copies of the globes in the Share a Dream Come True parade.

Thanks Debbie, now I need to try and persuade DH to buy me one of the extravagant parade ones.:Pinkbounc

I've looked at the snowglobes many times, but have been put off buying one at the thought of transporting it home. How do you transport yours Helen? Do you carry it in hand luggage or put it in your case?

I'm getting ideas of buying one of the snowglobes based the Share a Dream Come True parade. :D

They come packaged really well and I have not had a problem before. I bought one a couple of years ago that was really expensive and carried this on with my hand luggage, but normally I just wrap a few clothes around the box and put it in the middle of my suitcase - never had an accident yet - she says touching wood and crossing fingers:rolleyes:

Helen

Thanks for that Helen :D

Do you have a hard suitcase? Just wondering as ours are soft so not that protective. I don't fancy the hassle of carrying one in the hand luggage though, as we have another flight to catch when we arrive in Gatwick so the less to carry the better! DD Sam bought a 'pot dog' in Jersey, which was in a box wrapped in bubble wrap, but it still got broken, I think the baggage handlers must just throw the cases around that hard, I didn't expect it to be broken and Sam was quite upset. The tought of a snowglobe smashing and covering everything in glittery goo is not a nice thought is it? :(

Poor DD Sam, he must have been so disappointed when he got home.:(

I do have a hard suitcase so this might help. The packaging for the snow globes is really quite good and if you ask at Disney I am sure they will make it extra safe. They are protected by polystyrene and then in the box, but I am sure you could get maybe some bubble wrap and put it in an extra box.

When I buy mine in September I will remember to let you know how I go on and what the best way of bringing it back is.:D

Hope this helps.

Hello Mazzy:wave:

I'm a real lover of the disney snow globes, and I'm hoping to get some more when I'm out there in October. Each trip I have brought at least one home with me and I put them in my normal suitcase (not hard) and I have never had a problem:D other than choosing which one to have:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Have fun choosing.

Thanks Helen, it sounds as though the polystyrene would keep the snowglobe firmly held in place, I think that was the problem with Sam's 'pot dog', it only had a bit of bubble wrap round it so I guess it could still move around in the box. I hope you get your new snowglobe home safe and sound in September.

BTW, Sam is a girl (hence DD - darling daughter, or disney daughter!) - when she was born, I always swore I wouldn't call her Sam, but after 12 years it slips off the tongue! I usually only call her Samantha when she is in trouble! ;)

Are you flying from Manchester? We have flown from Manchester for our last two trips, with Virgin, but this time we have to go down to Gatwick as Virgin don't fly from Manchester in the Winter - a bit of a pain when we only love 30 mins from the airport!

Sharon - thanks for telling me that also managed to transport your snowglobes safely, in a soft case too, it sounds as though there is nothing stopping me going on a little 'snowglobe spree'! ;)

Have you been to the San Francisco Music Box Company at Belz? They sell the most fantastic snow globes and music boxes.......some are Disney, others lke The Wizard of Oz and Gone With the Wind. I love it.

Hi Mazzy.

I thought that I'd try to help put your mind at rest. My DW (Pooh-stick) bought a large (pooh) snowglobe from the shop in the Castle at MK. They come ready packed inside a close fitting polystyrene block. My DW then packed this inside our (soft) luggage, wrapped in clothes. I'm glad to say that it got home in one piece. :)

Have a great day

Paul

This is the snowglobe that DW got from Downtown Disney:

I'm getting one of those like the look of it, do you mind me asking how much it was?

Thanks

Helen

Thanks Paul, I feel a lot happier about buying a snowglobe now :D

Tim - Love the Mickey Globe - I can see I'm going to be struggling to decide which snowglobe to buy as there seems to be so many! :D

Just had a look at the bottom of the snow globe and it's still got the price sticker on it :) - $12.00

OOpps sorry a bit late in posting, just playing catch up as i havent been on the boards for ages.

SNOWGLOBES my favourite subject im an avid/addicted collector.

Last year when we went to WDW i bought back 18 in all and various ornaments.I just politley told the cm that they had to get back to england in one piece so they put extra packaging round them for me. Safe to say i only lost a bees wing on one of the small pooh bear snow globes i bought back the rest were all in one piece. I wrapped towels around the boxes in the suitcase.

Dh bought the 100 years of magic snowglobe for the Disney store for xmas last year its an ornament with little snowglobes surrounding it.

Im off to DLP next weekend so i expect more snowglobes will be bought back:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

I just need a new display cabinet as the other one is full up:p
