Okay I just got back form WDW well 2 weeks ago & we had alot of Ressie's & went to alot of WDW restaurants.

Chef Mickey's
Crystal Palace
The Plaza Inn
Hoop De Doo Review
Prime time
Tepon Edo
Biergarten
Yak & Yeti
Ohana's

I had a table in Wonderland card which helps (But Not Much)

My favorites were Prime Time alacarte pricing always fun!
Tepon Edo, first time food was good (though portions could have been bigger!) a little pricey
Yak & Yeti went for lunch food was good pricing & portion size okay!

Plaza Inn bill with desset for 6 was under $100 but was higher than last summer so I am asuming the had a price increase!

I did enjoy Ohana's the appetizer's are better than the main course (which tend to be dry & thus require the dipping sauce's) & the dessert is right up there but our table was nothing to write home about!

It should be noted that Tepon Edo & Yak & Yeti did not except the Tables in Wonderland card!

Hoop De Doo I go for the Show the Food is good (I do wish there was a chocolate dessert option) & who can complain after drinking a pticher of Beer! :drinking1: :thumbsup2

In My Opinion the quality of the Food has gone down in most of these restaurants especially the buffet's which have become prohibitavely expensive!

All Buffet's seem to be $35(for Dinner) per adult including children over 10 (we are a family of 6 with 4 children 5/8/15/17 do the math!), This is alot of Money! My kids all love Chef Mickey's & the Crystal Palce but if it was up to me I would skip them.
This was the first time going to the Biergarten I was expecting a full slap dancing & laderhosen show, but was dissapointed (only a band) the food was mediocre at best! I will not return their in A hurry!

Anyway those are my opinions Flame away or ask away & I will give my honest opinion!:rolleyes1

A post had to be removed already due to tipping discussion. Just a reminder that tipping discussion is limited to the tipping sticky at the top of this forum. The first post explains why there is just one thread and has the thread guidelines, as well as a FAQ.

To the OP, you shouldn't be worried about being flamed for your opinion. That's how you feel after going to Disney. Not sure what the issue or cause for concern would be :confused3 You didn't like most places, and felt the pricing was high. That's your prerogative.Others may not agree with your opinion, and may share their opinions to that effect in the thread. However, you shouldn't feel attacked if someone kindly disagrees with you. :goodvibes

Oops sorry about that. I didnt' even think about it as I threw that into the beginning of my reply

Yak & Yeti does have an AP discount - we got that when we went for lunch in January since they didn't take TiW. (Just for future reference or so others know, doesn't help the OP at this point!)

We really liked Y&Y, 50s Prime Time and the Plaza.

I don't disagree that much on the rest - I also find the food pretty average, and the prices high. But it is what it is - it won't stop us from eating at WDW or paying the prices they charge. We just consider it part of the vacation cost.

Food = average
Prices = high

That was a very good summary!

I think the food on buffets tend to be hit or miss on quality when they have to feed masses of people. You can still get some good meals at WDW, but usually those places are going to be at the high end of the cost spectrum.

I've found some quality issues of my own in December, but I also found some winners. I would take Tangierine Cafe off my list, when I used to recommend it for years.

You managed to hit a couple of the very few places that don't accept TiW, but I'm sure you still managed to save a bundle on the rest of your meals!

When did you go because it was only $53 for the 2 of us (adults) at the character breakfasts and that included tax.
Personally I don't think the meals have gone downhill, we were on the deluxe plan again and ate at a lot of signature restaurants, but then again if you order something that you don't like and have a bad waiter, the experience can be different.

With the exception of Yak & Yeti (lunch) most were Dinners!
Breakfast is less but $53 for breakfast for 2 would not be considered inexpensive!

I do agree - high prices for the same quality of food you can get quite a bit cheaper offsite...but that's the point - we pay an uplift to eat onsite. If we want to we can vote with our feet and eat elsewhere. I also think that many restaurants around WDW have it made with the atmosphere - that's what we pay the extra for during our trips.
Sorry you were less than happy with your experience.

A bit cheaper is an understatement! I really do enjoy good atmosphere I just dont believe it justifies the pricing or the quality issue's.

If your going to charge top dollar you should at least deliver 75 cents worth.

Your point about voting with you feet is easier said then done resort guests are almost a captive audience!

Hey, it's your opinion and I share much of it! The only buffet we do at this point is Boma from time to time because we like the freshness of the food, the amount of choices available and the African dishes along with the good old stan bys. We waited a few years between 10 and now 13 to go back to Boma, DS(13) now eats enough to somewhat justify the price.

It's one thing when it's a dinner show like Hoop De Doo Review but just for a plain buffet I think charging a 10 year old adult price is just greed in my book.

I've always enjoyed 50's Prime time, the Yak and Yeti not soo much, Hoop De Doo is worth doing once, Ohanna's I think has slipped the most IMO. I gave up on Chef MIckey's years ago and I have to say I do have a small soft spot in my heart for the sausage platter & sauerkraut at Biergarten. Unfortunately my family does not share my enthusiam for it so we don't eat there.

I'm almost to the point of saying that in most of these TS restaurants etc. I prefer lunch and appetizers to a full course meal. Maybe that's the answer.

I'm glad you pointed out that Teppan Edo is not on the TiW card! I think I will cancel that one now. We went several years ago and I remember it being good, but just like any Japanese steakhouse. I'll just go here and save more than my 20% :)

We love Crystal Palace more for getting into the Magic Kingdom early for pictures. One tradition we have is we always eat breakfast there on Day 1 of each trip. As far as the food, Disney breakfast buffets are all pretty similar. No problems from us.

You're right. Perhaps Disney is thinking the higher prices on the menu will make the Dining plans more appealing to consumers?

You are right!

Nothing steamed me more than dropping $200 at Tepon Edo (A restaurant I liked)for dinner & have 3 young girls sitting with us pay with the Disney Dining Plan!:furious:

I think it is in pretty poor taste to say that the quality of food in disney has gone down hill, when according to this list, the only restaurants listed were basic restaurants. I think that the signature restaurants do a pretty good job with the food (Not 5 star, but giving you what you pay for). We are doing the deluxe plan this summer and eating most of our evening meals at Sig restaurants. Luckily, we know to avoid the buffets and other restaurants.

I just find it entertaining however that disney offers a dining plan to save people money on food and people complain about what they are receiving in return. Disney world is a theme park, not a dining destination. If you are looking for fine dining than book your next vacation in New york city.

I am paying out of pocket for a couple meals this trip and am a little concerned after reading several posts like the OP's. I teach and am only able to go during the peak season. (I'm not complaining, just avoiding any go off season comments.)

I hope that I get my money's worth at Crystal Place. To be honest $30 plus tip for breakfast is just ridiculous. I'm paying it of course, but I hope that the meal lives up to the price.

I agree with your first comment , it was meant sarcastically I assume!:lmao:

However I do not believe that you are getting what you pay for & I am a DVC member who always pays for my meals:sick::sad2: but who does not feel that the add on dining plan offer's good value for my family of 6!

I hope you enjoy your trip next summer!:thumbsup2:banana:

If I want fine dining I do not have to go to New York or Florida I can stay in Boston, my points were Value, Quality & Price at WDW!:teacher:

I think that was OPs point...the taste of the food is poor. :)

In all honesty, that doesn't make sense to me. How is it poor taste to criticize something you didn't enjoy? I see what you are saying, because he rated "regular" restaurants and not signatures, but when I go to the Outback or somewhere "regular", I expect it to be enjoyable. If their food was better back in 2004 or they get rid of my favorite dish, then I'm disappointed in it.

I agree that Disney is still a theme park. Part of the restaurant appeal is the atmosphere, not just the food. The 1TS restaurants are "low brow" so they appeal to the masses. But I think we still expect Disney quality. And I've seen review after review about declining food quality since the dining plan. If it isn't affecting the signatures, then thats great. But its also not fair to say that just because you don't splurge on the signatures you don't have a right to give an opinion on the food.
