At Long Last, RSVLTS Arrives at the Disney Parks with Attraction-Inspired Designs

RSVLTS shirts are now available at the Disney Parks, with designs inspired by classic attractions and characters.

What’s Happening:
  • Spotted earlier at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, new RSVLTS shirts featuring designs based on popular Disney Park attractions are now available at retail locations.
  • We saw a handful of options, including Star Wars, the Enchanted Tiki Room and the Haunted Mansion at the Riverside Depot merchandise location at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
  • Interestingly, we saw these at this location and noticed that well after, one of the RSVLTS co-founders teased the collaboration as “big things coming" in the RSVLTS fan groups on Facebook.
  • It is unclear at this time if these are the only Disney Parks options that we will see or if there are more coming in the interim, especially with the social media tease.
  • As of press time, the shirts are selling for $75.00 each, which is a slight increase compared to standard RSVLTS fare that can be purchased on their official site or even other parks, like those of Universal Orlando.
  • The tease promises that the shirts will be at both Walt Disney World (like we found), and at the Disneyland Resort.
  • While it can be assumed that some designs will be exclusive to the parks, whether in design or colorway, there is no official confirmation on that. Based on the shirts we’ve spotted, the Star Wars shirt was also previously available elsewhere officially.
  • According to our man in the field, a manager at Riverside Depot told him that the shirts will only be available at that location, as well as two locations in Disney Springs - DisneyStyle and World of Disney. Though that could potentially change as we hear more official news about the collab.

I wonder if they'll carry any of the Women's cuts.

But that scene is from the original Star Wars if I'm not mistaken...
I don't believe you are mistaken. I'm not an expert on all things Star Wars but this image is campaign art by Daniel Goozee.
Appears it was never used as an official movie poster but was used in a print ad.

Original Star Wars unused painting by Dan Goozee for a Star Wars promo poster

This painting is a varation of the final art used for an advertising campaign art from the original 1977 theatrical release of Star Wars was painted by movie poster veteran Daniel Goozee (Moonraker, Octopussy, Clash of the Titans, Superman IV).

The swashbuckling image, of Luke and Leia swinging on a rope, gun blazing, to make their escape from stormtroppers aboard the Death Star, appeared in at least one newspaper ad, but was not widely seen; in fact, apparently the artist himself was unaware that it had actually been used in the advertising at all, since it was just one of many pieces commissioned from various artists by Fox's publicity machine back in the 70s. The concept art is by Dan Gooze with design work by Tony Seiniger and Associates. Its army of stormtroopers on the bottom seems reminiscent of posters for biblical epics.

Goozee is a former Walt Disney "Imagineer" and fine artist who also painted a handful of sci-fi "originals" that were marketed as posters in the back of Famous Monsters and other Warren magazines during the height of the post-Star Wars sci-fi mania. This art was not published in The Art of Star Wars book, but its variant without C-3PO and R2-D2. Dan Goozee designed the below Star Wars poster in November 1977 for the studio. It was never used as an official movie poster but was used in a print ad.
