Disney shirt "fit" - true to size or??

IME sizes are at the low end of thier size group. For example small is right on the border of being extra small. I speculate this is a ploy to get kids in the need of a new shirt every visit.

I always find that their stuff for kids run big....I always say for kids, go big, they can grow into it!

The Disney Store's boys clothing runs big. My son is 7 and he can wear a size 4 (x-small) tee, but I order him a size 5/6 (small) so he can wear a long sleeve tee underneath. The first pic in my signature is DS at age 5(well, a month prior to his 5th b-day). The shirt he has on is a 2/3 xxs from the Disney Store. Their pjs run small, but their tees run big.

I'll break the tie...lol

I've always thought they ran small. I fit a large in normal sizes, but it seems like the Disney t-shirts are almost like a medium and a half on me.

I can't speak for the kids' shirts, but for the adult shirt it seems that the sizes can vary extremely by style of the shirt. I have fit into anything from M to 3XL and boyfriend even needed an S once when he's normally L bordering XL.

If the kids' shirts are anything like that, there's your reason for the different comments. ;)

Some of the girls shirts are cut REALLY tight - like fitted. Which on my 6 year old just looks inappropriately tight! Not sure about boys though!

Thanks everyone :-)

I bought a medium. Figured I can compare it to shirts he has once it arrives and exchange if drastically off.

I think it depends on what type of shirt you are buying... The stuff that they sell in the parks or the "Disney Parks Authentic" is made of a better material than the el cheapo $5.00 shirts that they sell on their site... Consider the $5.00 shirts disposable... because after you wash it once or twice they shrink so bad that they are ready for the trash... Compare that to the TOT shirt I bought back in 1999 at WDW that I still wear today! ;)

I've found they vary. I ordered my 4-yr-old DD a cute size 4 LS Tinkerbell shirt from the Disney Store online at the end of last winter (on clearance). When I put it on her this fall, I was shocked at how tight the shirt was, yet how long the sleeves were!. She still has a SS Tinkerbell t-shirt (also from the Disney Story) in size 2/3 that fits her fine... YMMV, as ours has

I can't speak for the Disney Store or for kids sizes BUT last time I was in WDW I bought a hoodie and a tee shirt, both size medium. I generally wear an XL or 2XL. Oh wait, I lied! I have a POTC shirt from the Disney Store, it's a Large and a Mikey shirt it's an XL. The POTC shirt fits good and the Mickey shirt is big.

The two 'Parks Authentic' shirts I bought where Large and XL. I'm normally a Large and it fits fine, but the XL is actually quite small and fits more like a Medium.

The XL is the shirt they had in the Mary Blair exhibit. It fits pretty tight and is very long and a rather transparent white. The Large is an Adventure Land shirt and fits like it should.

I also bought a XXL for the boyfriend and it fits him like an XL, but longer.

My experience:

Basic kids tees (like what you showed, which I love, BTW) run on the big side!
Basic adult tees (the boxy men's style ones) run pretty true to size
Fancier women's shirts seem to run small.
