Disney Rumor Alert!

Rumor has it that a survey is currently being conducted in Epcot. First was a multiple choice question asking which country you would most like to see added to World Showcase: Australia, Brazil, South Africa, Russia or Other. Following this, the next question asked guests which country would they be least upset to see removed from World Showcase. While I see no need for a country to be removed, I think Disney ought to check out the post I wrote to my blog on this subject a couple of weeks ago, http://disneygene.blogspot.com/2010/03/expanding-epcot.html. I created the whole thing for them, right down to the restaurant menu!

I love the idea of Russia!

I think it would be really distinctive, and interesting. I know how hard it is to visit there at the moment, so getting a slice would be fascinating!

Russia! Anytime the idea of a new country has come up that has been my answer. I would love to see it. And it is so very different than anything else that they have there already... It would be great!

Add Australia and pull the plunger on the Outpost. In my opinion that is dead space.

I too would like to see Russia added, it would be nice to see and Eastern European (well technically it's half Europe and Asia but you know what I mean)...Having said that it would be great to see an African Country (other than the Outpost) represented and if they did South Africa justice then that would be cool as well (meaning not just the colonized culture, but the original culture)....But one word sells me on the Russia idea...VODKA..Woooooo!!!!

If they are only going to build 1 new country, I think there is ZERO % chance it is anything other than Russia

While I'm guessing this isn't happening anytime soon, unfortunately, if they DID add a country, I would LOVE to see Egypt. They could do so much with it, IMO.

The Outpost was never intended to be a "country". It has always been just a filler. Back when Epcot opened, that spot was slated for Equitorial Africa. But, because of human rights issues and financing, that plan fell through.

There is actually room for several new countries to fit into World Showcase. Just a matter of money.

Africa is represented with Morocco. The only unrepresented and fully populated continent is South America. I would love to see Brazil but I think if they expand it will be Russia or India. India is one the way to becoming the most populous country and there are plenty of culinary and architectural opportunities.

...depends on how you view the question.

Should they build a country that is least represented geographically?
Should they build a country that is better represented by park patrons?
Should they build a country that has a fast-growing US population?

Will the food be desired by Epcot patrons?
Can the actual country support the pavilion financially and with staffing?

I think the answer to all of these questions can only be one of two answers: Russia or India.

A cable car ride up to a simulated Machu Picchu could be incredible.

I'd love to see Australia (a new IMAX film would be pretty cool) and I always pictured a new TS restaurant in the far corner of the lagoon that looked like the Syndey Opera House.

Russia would be a great addition, too, though.

Part of me would love to see a country from the Middle East, but since it is still so politically divisive, I would hate to see Disney placed in the middle of it.

We can hope that it wont always be that way...
