Disney Rewards...

"I think the poster who is using the card for travel expenses abroad to pick up her new daughter, should win the "coolest thing to do with the Disney card" award. Congratulations! She'll be a Disney fan in NO time! "

Wow, how many points can you get for buying a kid ? I've tried selling mine a couple times but couldn't get more then the going price for pig knuckles per pound for them.

I believe the interest rate is different with the direct debit because they get thier money right away. I guess that since they have to wait now, the rate is increased.

I only use the Disney Visa for Disney purchases. We get Amex points and therfore use this for everything. These points can be used for air, travel pkgs., gifts ect. You can even get hopper passes! The Disney card at the moment does not offer enough incentive for me to primarily use thier card.

Is there an expiration date for the Disney Rewards dollars that you receive from the credit card?

I've got $60 that were issued to me last month... They all indicate that they will expire 12/31/04.

I have Disney Visa and have used it instead of my AMex ever since I received it. I just got $40.00 of disney reward dollars yesterday. By the way, mikayla's Mom, you no longer get ANY disney rewards form AMEX since 12/31/02. We used to use our membership rewards points for breakfast coupons or passes, but they no longer offer any of this. I now use my Disney Visa to get the disney rewards.

I recently contacted Bank One about the $71 reward dollars we have on our card as we are headed to Hilton Head for July 4th.

There is some confustion as to exactly where the rewards could be spent. They are NOT like Disney Dollars. I was orignally told that they could only be used to purchase tickets or at Disney World or Disney Land Resorts. This was a questions they asked me when I told them that I wanted to redeem my rewards. When I explained that I wanted to us them at HHI, they said they needed to check to see if they could be used there. I did get a call back in about a day and was told I could use them at the HHI resort to pay off anything I had charged to my room.

I received the actual certificates in just a few days. They are actually $10 Disney Certificates - I received 7 of them and I would expect that I still have $1 left on my rewards. They also said something about the making some type of change in October (or sometime later this year) where they may be more like Disney Dollars.

I don't know if I explained this very well. I was surprised when they first asked me where I wanted to use them as I had expected them to be like Disney Dollars and be able to use them at anyplace that currently accepts Disney Dollars.

Island_Lauri,

There are a few ways to redeem "Disney Rewards". First, you may order a gift certificate (card) for use at WDW and various properties. The other way they can be redeemed is through the Disney Store which is a different kind of gift card and can only be used at the store.

I'm not sure if there are any other ways to redeem. But, I do remember reading about the ones I mentioned above.

You may be correct but when I called and asked to redeem my rewards, they asked if I was going to use them for Park Tickets or at a Disney World or a Disney Land Resort. I was surprised by that because of my intention to use them at HHI. When I said that I thought they would be like Disney Dollars, they said no -- they could only be used at a Disney Store to purchase Ticket media. Anyway, what I received were large flashy (Red & Gold, I believe) certificates in $10 denominations in a paper wallet. They are fairly large - more like oversized dollars than gift cards.

Island_Lauri,

Thanks for the update. I had NO idea they could be used at HHI or probably Vero Beach. Very useful information. Thanks again!

"you no longer get ANY disney rewards form AMEX since 12/31/02."

This is my reason for getting the Disney card. I have about 45,000 AMEX points which will get me less than one flight on Delta(I'm really fussy about flights!) I would rather pay the $200 for the flight and have the Disney rewards to enjoy when we get there! So goodbye to AMEX hello Bank One!

Someone had posted their rewards points expired 2004. I just checked and mine expire 2008. That gives plenty of disney trips to use them!

Island Lauri -

I just redeemed my Disney rewards for Disney store dollars. Initially, there was confusion as to whether the rewards could be used at the Disney Store for WDW park tickets since there are often restrictions on buying tickets at your local Disney store. They have cleared up that issue and tickets can be purchased in advance at the Disney store with reward dollars. You also can apply them to merchandise purchases at the store.

I also know that the reward dollars for WDW apply to the cruise. However, I have not heard that they can be used at Hilton Head.

The best bet is to contact Bank One Visa at the same number used to call to claim your rewards. I called several times and complained about the initial confusion on the park tickets. They were very helpful and able to resolve the issue. You may be able to do the same about the Hilton Head resort.

Just received my $40.00 rewards. They expire in 2004. If you don't redeem them and keep accruing, they are good until 2008. Once you redeem them they espire in shorter amount of time. I will be trying them on our June trip.

How do you find out what select, participating locations are available?
Can I use these reward dollars toward meals in the park restaurants? When I called Bank One they couldn't give me a list. Thanks for any help.

Disney Dream Reward Dollars Guide states:
" . . . When you use Disney's Visa Credit Card from Bank One, you'll earn 1% or more in Disney Dream Reward Dollars on card purchases that may be redeemed for most merchandise, park tickets, hotels, food and more at Disney Store, DisneyStore.com, Disney Catalog, Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts including theme parks, and Disney Cruise Line. Special Bonus Offers in your statement and at www.BankOne.com/Disney will give you the opportunity to earn double, triple or more times the Disney Dream Reward Dollars on selected purchases or help you get more with your reward dollars when you redeem them."

I guess the key word is "most!"
